Im designing a list, and I want to have a good Master on a Manticore. He needs to be able to hit hard, in close combat, he is going to crush enemy units in the back, so he will be moving lots. How much of a problem is the Master in trying to control his Manticore from frenzy, if its a problem whats good at fixing that?
he's leadership 9. You'll pass that 3/4 of the time. Frenzy isn't too terrible. You still have hatred and will have to pursue any broken enemy. You'll have more problems keeping the manticore alive than you will with worrying about the uncontrollable rule I would think.
Then is there a way to boost the Manticore so that it lives long enough to get my Master around and kill something?
like most flying large targets you'll want to deploy him behind cover/terrain. Then hopefully have him fly to the far corner of the enemies line. He'll then take everything that the bad guys can magic and shoot at him for one turn and then charge in next turn and start doing his thing. I'd give the master some null talismans (maybe 2 depending on the rest of your list) and make sure you give the master lots of armor, sdc, shield etc. He probably only needs a lance or halberd or something on top to chop with.
Alright so here is what I have,
Master: Mounted on Manticore
Sea Dragon Cloak
2 Null Talismans
So he will have the +4 ward from the null talismans. Next the Heavy Armour, Enchanted Sheild, bring in a save of 3+ I think, and if he is shot at its increased to 1+ from the cloak and if he is in close combat its a save of 2+. I think. Then his sword just gives him a measly little -1 armour penetration and he has a lance for charging, I think this is the way it works, don't yell if its false, I am very very new to Dark Elves and don't full understand the cloak or monster mounts.
actually the null tllismans mean he has mr 2 not a ward save
by the by the biting blade is a really bad choice it's just not worth 10 points
Believe in me, even if we are torn apart our feelings will unite us that is what this post is all about.
Whenever I take a master on a Manticore I have always just given him Deathpiercer and the armor of darkness, I'm sure most will agree with this loadout but it has yet too fail me
There won't be any need to buy the lance option if you're going to have the biting blade. Since the blade is a magic weapon, you'll be required to use it at all times, even on the charge. So the points for buying the lance would be wasted.
See now people are willing to help, all I had to do was put a bunch of retarded stuff up and then the ideas would start flowing thanks
Ok so If I take the death piercer, and the armour of darkness. Dont take a shield, and then do I still get a hand weapon to use or does he keep using his lance in close combat?
