I have been haveing problems taking down orges and was wondering if anyone had tips for bringing them down.
I've been taking on Ogres for a while now, ne of my regular players plays OK. He is I think not the best Ogre player but here's how I took them on:
Characters you can use:
Wizzards: Magic hurts the Ogres much since they have low Asv even a S4 damage spell becomes critical. If you're going magic I'd take 2 level 2 wizzards and a dreadlord and an assasin. (also depending on how many points you play ofc.) Equip 1 sorc with darkstar cloak and the other with sacrificial dagger.
Masters/Lord: Pendent! and something to boost your strength.
Assasins: These work so brilliantly well against ogres!! Reveal him in a corner of your unit facing a rank n file ogre and ASF attack him. Make sure you equip the assasin with manbane and rune of khaine and an additional handweapon.
Units you can use:
Warriors: Big block 25 models or so, hide an assasin in there to protect a sorceress. and so you can sacrifice.
Dark Riders: These guys are so important against ogres. The arrows hurt the ogres. With only 5+ to wound and almost negating his armour completely a few arrows can thin out units nicely. I'd take 2 units of 5 with musician.
Corssbowmen: If you take them only take 10, keep them cheap, line up so they have to move as little and just shoot! Remember AP arrows hurt the ogres.
Harpies: Marchblock you must!, or lure some bull rhinox to a counter charge position
Shades: Unit of 5 with GW, marchblock and shoot arrows, take a unit in the flank so you kill the 1 model in the flank and he can't attack back
Cold One Knights: A hard hitting unit, make sure you include a unit.
Black Guards: ASF and 'Soulrender' on the champion. a hint for ya: the ogres have a longer charge distance, if you're not gonna be able to charge him and he's close stand as close as he can. If you're within half his charge range they receive no impact hits. Don't forget impact hits go before ASF! and many black guards have died because of impact hits.
Reaper Bolt Throwers: These are your friend, take 2 or 4. I'd rather take 2 so you can add a Hydra
Hope this helps a bit, I'm curious what does you OK opponent usually fields?
Recently played 1k against ogres. I had a unit of 15 black guard with the the banner of "i get to go first" with my master in the unit wielding a great weapon, blood armour and pendant of kaeleth. My unit champion had the crimson death. the unit got charged by i think it was 6 Iron Guts and completely smashed their faces in, it was hilarious.
Also DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE REPEATER CROSSBOWS. They wound on a 5 plus but most ogres come in units of about 3 or 4, and you only need to kill one poorly armoured ogre with 20 shots to make them brick it. i took 2 units of 10 and it was insane the ammount of panic tests 2 units of archers forced. also if he likes gnoblars take a hydra, and just stand in frnt of them and watch them leg it. theyre also really good against giants if you get the charge.
Oh forgot to mention this:
Focus you firepower on the unit with his most heroes. He fields his heroes in a 5ogre big unit so with heroes its 7 ogre unit. I shoot at it with just bolt thrower and before he gets across there's only 1 rank n file model in te unit and the heroes bail on the unit and join another or run away scared from panic.
ASF, speed, shooting, and magic all hurt Ogres very badly. Ogres have virtually no SCR and rely entirely on breakin you on the charge. They have to maneuver to get flank and multiple charges, so use your speed to get around them.
RxBs and basic magic missiles will tear them up and since OK have very poor magic defense.
Black Guard and assassin win so hard here. ASF and tons of attacks will mess them up. Ogres have T4 and almost no armor, so RxBs should tear them apart.

Thanks alot. This will help me alot.
I can't tell you exactly what he has... but this is mostly what i remeber its been a while sense i have seen his army.
Tyrant...This is totally decked out to kill charicters and gets stronger each time it kills one
Bulls.. 2 units of 4 i think
Iron guts.. 2 units of 4
2 units of 2 lead belchers
One scrap launcher
and a giant
Thats the best i remeber it it is 3000pts so it has more guys. He doesn't have any Gnoblars. I am fairly new with few games under my belt and he has never had troubles with dark elves acouding to him.
