Hi in 2 weeks I'm entering a tourney and I'm unsure about a few things that I would like to get cleared up so I don't make stupid mistakes ^^'
1. I was planning to take a Master with Dark Pegasus and Ring of Hotek + Cloack of Hag Ghraef. But a friend of mine asked me how many wounds the Pegasus had. I looked it up and it turns out to be 3 wounds. He told me that if it has several wounds it can be shot down. So this would mean when the model with mount gets shot at the hits have to be randomized an only the 5-6 (rider) will the Cloack of Hag Ghraef have affect on?
2. May the Dark Pegasus join a unit of harpies? They are skirmish so they won't negate ranks but they could offer my Dark Pegasus some extra protection if he could join them. I vagely remember US2+ can't join skirmish but still doubting so I'm asking here.
1) Randomize between the Master and Peggy, only hits against the Master will be affected by the Cloak. I wouldn't recommend the Cloak at all, you'd be better off with the Sword of Might or cheap magic weapon so you can go after war machine crews. Heavy armor, sdc, and a shield is still plenty good (3+ in combat, 2+ against shooting). This means that your Peggy can be shot out from under you, so be careful and hide out of sight until you get into place.
2) Nope, flying mounts cannot join units.

Unfortunately, yes your pegasus can be shot out from under you. Although it is NOT a large target so you can still take advantage of cover provided by units on the ground.

you can take null talismans, this will protect your peg from magic missiles and the like. as far as other shooting, good placement is the way to protect your pegasus.
Harpies can be used as a screen.
It's not a terrible investment, I plan on using one for my more aggressive fighting (rather than magic) heavy force because of the many things it can do. Never discount hatred and 5 str5 (at least) attacks added to a combat.
yes, the rule book says that any mount with at least 2 wounds or more is considered a "monstrous mount." Go read the monstrous mount section in your rule book and you will get all the info you need. I play a pegasus at times and it's worked quite well. I have not used a master on one though. And in fact a master/drealord may work even better in CC since the Pegasus gets the +1 strength on the charge... or is it +2? I can't remember off the top of my head and my rule book is out in the car lol. Let us know how it works in the tourney. GL!
