So I know lots of people use the glade riders as dark riders, but what about glade guard as shades? No armour, and just have to replace long bows with repeater crossbows. Any thoughts? or examples even?
I have not tried this as I already bought the Shade models but it sounds like it would work fine. I would be interested to see how they turn out if anyone gives this a try. Although the Glade Guard look alot more static than the Shade models. I think that is the difference between a model meant to be a ranked unit and one meant to be a skirmisher. Could still look fine though and the price difference would definitely make it worth a try.
The problem is that the real version actually portrays the model with a crossbow AND a sword to represent the optional great weapon upgrade. They do have light armour as an upgrade too by the way. So although it could work as a conversion, i still think its best to get the real shades. They were not that expensive to get compared to other units like Dark Riders or Harpies.
I converted mine from corsairs (since I'll probably never use corsairs) They have repeater crossbows from the warriors and handbows and great weapons (used the TKing big champion sword ends) and necron death masks. They look great to me.
@ bukero0: Do you have any pics handy? My appoligies if I'm hijacking the tread by asking though.

Ya pic's would be sweet, please?
I was thinking using the glade guard quivers as scabbards and just having handles sticking out.
I've been meaning to get my DE out again and it's supposed to be cold and rainy tomorrow, so maybe I'll snap some pics and post them.
