hey everybody, my gf bought me some DE cold one knights today, although I have no other DE models, but I do have some empire and VC. Anyway I've only just got into the hobby so I'm still finding my feet and I don't wanna mess these cool knights up, so has anyone got any tips for assembly/painting? I have already clipped out all the pieces, making sure they all went back into the box, and now I'm gonna do some filing to make sure they look smooth, but should I use some green stuff to cover seams? Or will paint fix that? Any advice would be appreciated. All I've assembled so far is 20 zombies and a corpse cart. Thanks.
There shouldn't be a need for any greenstuff for the knights, unless you've been a bit too eager with the knife that is.
(the shieldarms and lances will cover most of the seams on their chests.)
The kit is excellent and should fit together very nicely, just clean off the moldlines etc. and dry-fit the halves together before gluing, just to check.
I would recommend that you keep the cold ones and the knights separate, gluing them together when they are both painted.
Oh, and paint the shields separate when you're doing the knights.
ok cool thanks for the advice. Sounds straightforward enough. Only thing is I havent used a knife on them at all so far!! What's it for? I just clipped the pieces out and have filed away any mould lines etc. I know they sell a knife but I never knew what it was for, and when I collected lizardmen briefly about 7/8 years ago, I never used one then either.
The knife is mainly used for moldlines and conversions etc. But a file is fine for moldlines, a knife just leaves a smoother finish.
Armies: Dark Elves, Black Templars, Tyranids, Iron Warriors, Imperial Guard.
wow thanks for the quick response scorp!

thanks for the advice everybody, I finished the knights a few days ago to a standard I'm happy with. The only small thing I need to do is add some kind of design to the banner, any ideas? I think I'll just do some kind of simple but smart-looking elven rune.
here is a good pdf with a lot of info about "Drukh-eltharin"
with plenty of symbolism, the dark elf way.
