Ive gotten into fantasy recently, a friend has been encouranging me to start for a few months, so i bought some cold ones recently. Ive drafted a list which includes a war hydra but i dont like the model. Does anyone have any ideas for something else i can use as a hydra, or a mixture of models that i can hack away at to create a hydra.
Also i`d be grateful if anyone could give me any tips on fighting vamp counts.
How can you not like the model! I think its looks awsome!
No idea what you can convert into a hydra though
Dark Elves W/D/L/ 11-3-3
Dwarfs W/D/L 0/1/2
Last game: Dwarfs - Draw
Just doesnt look that realistic. I know its not a real creature but i couldnt imagine it being real, like i could a fell beast for example. Hmm, theres an idea. Anyone know how big the scale difference is between the two?
I agree, the model loooks terrible. I can't stand anything about it.
I use a Reaper Hydra I got for $3 for mine. It looks alright painted up. I've thought about converting one a bit as well. I'd either shoot for a multi headed snake (lots of snake headed models outside of GW range) or go with a tiamat type of look with multiple lion heads or something else kind of ferocious. How good at sculpting are you? Cold one heads look great but their necks are a little too short.
Multiple carnosaur head/necks on a carny body would look pretty cool but would be really expensive.
thats a good point, cold one heads are really good. The carnasaur model isnt fantastic but its much better. I`d say im not a novice at sculpting, i can easily fill gaps, and even successfully made a cloak worthy of the newest termie chaplain as an adamantine mantle.
I think i have one or two spare cold one heads somewhere. Thanks dude
This one guy in my group had a old D&D figurine of Tiamat from that system. Granted, it also had wings, but it was perfectly scaled to be on a warhammer battlefield.
u could even use a high elf dragon (which would be good as its plastic) and add additional cold one/ dragon heads
That one is very nice but can you use it outside of anything but a friendly game? Here's the Reaper Minis Hydra: Reaper Miniatures :: OnlineStore
Pretty much annihilates the GW model ;D
