Well, the new FAQ is out as as expected, they changed the wording on the ring, which has made it fairly worthless, in my opinion. So, I would like to ask, what are it's uses now? I realize that people will say to put it on a flyer and fly over to casters, but without the ability to march block, the improved shooting, and buffs to magic, that's not going to be effective. They can easily move away or shoot or magic the ring bearer to death.Any Wizard (friend or for) within 12" of the wearer, attempting to cast a spell must roll on the Miscast table on a roll of a double. Note that this will still only cast a spell with irresistible force on a roll of double 6.
I'm still going to field the ring, for the time being. Putting on my units of Cold One Knights and running them across the board as fast as possible, hoping my opponent is dumb enough to stay in range and cast.
What exactly is the problem?
Fantasy: Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Beastmen and Tomb Kings.
LotR: Misty Mountains and Rohan
The problem is the way the ring now works It Used to cuase MC on any double if a caster even so much as looked the wearers way (casts from or into the unit +12" bubble) basicly if they cast at the unit even from 40" away they could blow up but now thay MUST! be right next to you int he 1st place. I for one will not be paying for the ring just to run a unit / flying hero up to die and not affect them at all.
Am i missing something here but the old wording said that it only affected wizards within 12" as does the new wording of it. Can someone explain because my brains frying here?
