Hello fellow fantasy players, i'm a Veteran 40k player who recently started playing fantasy with a Lizardmen army. I always like to have two types of armys though, a Melee focused army and a more Shooty based army so that i can have a choice between what i consider the two main types of fighting a battle, Shooting and Close Combat (i'm not gonna mention all the ways to fight useing those two styles). As i have lizardmen, whom i'm sure you already know is not a shooting army but very efficient and who excel at close combat, i want to start a Shooting focused army. I think that dark elves have some of the coolest looking units (especially corsairs) and i'm wondering if they have a solid potential to be the shooting army i'm looking for. any advice for or against would be greatly appreciated, thanks ahead of time!
Three core units can fire two shots per model. RXBs being the common choice over corsairs, dark riders perhaps less useful than they once were.
One special choice is 2 shots each at BS5.
Bolt throwers for rare.
The only thing it lacks is strength, but it makes up for that in quantity...

Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
excellent thank you very much rork! this sounds like exactly what i'm looking for in my second type of army, they seem like a good army to sit back and shoot the enemy to pieces before they attack and yet seem able to hold their own in close combat. Just wondering since i haven't committed yet and bought the army book what is this special unit your talking about?
