I have two Questions, niether have come up yet but i'm recently getting back into warhammer after not really playing since 6th edition. I've been spending a lot of time reading up on rules and checking various forums for for clarifications on some things. However I haven't seen either of these addressed anywhere either in the official faq or forum posts.
First off can Malekith be removed from the game by the 2-4 result on the miscast table? His armor doesnt let him be slain outright or take more than one wound from a single attack, but being sucked into the realm of chaos isnt really being slain, after all, it has happened to him before.
Secondly, a hero level sorceress on a pegasus counts as having three wounds thanks to the mountrous cavalry rule. So could the soul stealer spell potentianly gain her 6 wounds, or just the normal 4 she would normally be entilted to?
Thanks for any input!
Removed from game with no saves alowed of any kind i think is the wording, but its different from Malekiths rules as they are designed to stop things like cannonballs and stone throwers or multi wound weapons, which specifiy how many extra wounds they actualy cause. In the case of a cannon ball D6 wounds would be caused on a normal model, but on malekith it would only ever cause 1 each time he is hit. Getting a miscast and sucked into the realm of chaos might not kill him, but to all intents and purposes he is no longer in that game/battle so is gone, full points awarded as if he had lost all his wounds.
The sorceress only adds to her own wounds, not her mounts. Otherwise you might start seeing more sorceresses being taken into games on dragons for a potential 18 wounds (6 from the dragon, 3 from the Sorceress lord, x 2).
Pretty much what i thought, only the dragon thing doesnt apply because its a monster and its profile is kept separate from the sorceress, whereas with a dark pegasus, you use its wounds value for the sorceress as it counts as a monstrous beast and the pegasus and sorceress esentially become one model. (ie: you can kill a dragon out from under the character but you cant target a pegasus separetly and the whole model is removed, pegasus and sorceress, when it takes 3 wounds.)
If the wording of the attack/effect is "killed outright" Malekith just takes a wound. If the wording is "removed from play/removed as a casualty" then Malekith dies.
The rules regarding Monstrous Beasts make Morathi pretty awesome now, because you no longer have to worry about Sulephet being shot from underneath her. Give her the Book of Ashur and she becomes one of the most annoying mages ever. Flying around with a potential 6 wounds, a 4+ ward, able to best war machine crews in a fight and with +6 to cast/+5 to dispel she causes headaches everywhere, especially as she can cast all the spells from Dark Magic on one dice (best to use two though, just in case you roll a 1 or a 2).
