i just love too have a manticore but i do not like the models , but i have been thinking of converting a manticore from the white lions from the high elves chariot kit , and just add a par off dark pegasus wings and a bigger base .. just whant too here youre thought's =)
I have a couple like that, they do look alright. I alternatively use them as Dark Pegasi as well (40mm bases).
I also have a Carnosaur converted with wings that I sometimes use as a Manticore (it was intended as a Dragon, but then GW screwed me over twice by first releasing the Carnosaur in Finecast, after several hours building the metal one, and the also released the plastic dragon kit like a month later).
I've seen converted manticores like the one you're planning. They look pretty nice. Just on the small side, but that's no big deal. The bonus is that if you buy the High elf chariot to get the lions you could slap some cold ones on it and have a dark elf chariot model.
Theres also a really nice manticore model from Raging Heroes. Raging Heroes | Manticore
Its just on the expensive side. But it would definetly be a commanding presence on the tabletop.
Shoud he bee on 50-50 base or 50-100 base?
My dragon one is on a 50mm, but the lion ones are on 40mm. No-one I've met really seems to care.
I did have one person say they should be on Chariot bases, but the current DE Manticore is still on a 50mm.
