I have played 40K for quite some time and am just starting fantasy and the Dark Elves seem to interest me the most. Whether my ideas are right or wrong, I usually base my army on what the models look like and not what their skills are. It has worked out ok in the past but now I wonder if my Dark Elves army would get slaughtered or not. I
So here is my plans for a 2K point army,
1 Sorceress (on Cold One) - 116 Points
30 Warriors - 270 Points
30 Corsairs - 300 Points
20 Cold One Knights - 580 Points
1 Cold One Chariot - 95 Points
38 Executioners - 418 Points
1 War Hydra - 220 Points
Total Points - 1999
I'll take any helpful comments and criticisms I can get, I want the army to look nice but that won't do much good if the actual tactics and skill can't back it up. Thanks to everyone who replies, appreicate it.
ye gods man! have you no command models?!?
20 CoK in a unit?!?
this is insanity! your only character is a sorc. methinks leadershp may be a bit of a problem for you, and there isn't much magic or shooting power here, which many elfy players seem to like.
Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!
Graktoof the vile, victor of 1000 battles, partial credit to 1000 more, and sore loser about the other 8000...
20 Cold One Knights hmmm they are strong but have stupidity. Trade them out for Dark Riders with RxB and full command that would make each model be 24 pts not the 29 for COK. What is nice about the DR is that they cant run and shoot. Dark Elves are ment to get in there fast and Fu** some Sh** up.
Now did you take into account that you need to have command with your Warriors and Corsairs? And it is nice for them to have full command with Standard and Musician.
Witch Elves might also be your thing, seeing ass how it looks like you are mainly going to be attacking. Witch Elves get 2 attacks plus Frenzy for another. Thats 3 attacks that kill on a 6. Mows through Orcs and Goblins.
How were you planing on breaking your units apart... or was it just going to be a huge 30 block of Warriors/Corsairs?
Have to agree with Koiring - you need some command models and when you face bigger armies you'll need standards in units. I'd take no more than 10 CoK and take 5-10 Dark Riders - very handy for out flanking. Use missile troops (no missile troops is pretty un-elf like!!! to whittle down big units or force small units to flee. Then attack with all of your hand-to-hand troops (I even wade in with crossbowmen sometimes!. Make sure you make coordinated attacks - even a unit of 30 warriors can struggle against multiple enemy units. When firing - concentrate fire onto limited targets - the odds of doing something decisive are much better! The war-hydra is useful for soaking up hits but it won't last on its own - back it up with your warriors or CoK. I hope that helps....
BTW taking command models can allow you to do some cool conversions!

You have 4 big block units. Nothing to guard your flanks apart from one hydra. Can you see the problem here already? One flank charge and any one of those units are gone. And with DE, you just can't afford that.
I'd split the Executioners and CoK's in half at least, if not drop them down to 5 each + command. That way, you will have some decent falnk protectors and flankers of your own. By doing this, you should be able to afford 2 nobles to stick in your CoK's or executioners to lead them. Also, add the seal of ghrond to one of the nobles and add 2 dispel scrolls to the sorc.
With those changes, the list would look a whole lot better. Hope this has helped.
