My girlfriend wants to use High Elf Dragon Princes as Cold One Knights, as she hates the cold one plastics and has a mild dislike for the knights themselves. what are peoples opinions on using suitably painted and converted dragon princes or silver helms as a proxy for the real dark elf models. would you permit her to treat the models as you would cold ones with regards to stats, etc?

I can see Dragon Princes figurines working... but a cold one is a cold one... not an elf steed! Lizardmen would blanch at the sight!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
    Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
    Down the Noldor's proudest king.

Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.

I agree with Grimbog, you cant use horses as cold ones. But you could maybe use the Dragon Princes as Dark Riders or combine the rules/stats of a Cold One Knight and a dark riders horse and make a new cavalry unit.
I found some old high elf models that id forgotten i had and am currently converting them to a Dark Elf colour scheme.

I actually see very little wrong with using DP as COK, just using the "counts as rule" Anyways who's to say there's not a small force of Druchii decided to stick to the older ways? Remember the Sundering split the land of Ulthuan in two, so come Caledorian's may well have sided with Malekith and rode off with him. There could well have kept the old ways going, maybe have pure black steeds convert the DPs to look more sinister and um.. spikey.

My major gripe is the cold ones... they're not horses! The DP models look good and can be painted in a sinister way... would converting the Cold Ones be an option to make them look better? :hmm:

No CO aren't horses but as I said using the "count as" rule most things are ok and tend to work well enough, fluff covers most stuff

Other than that convert the CO, ask her what she wants them like and see if you can convert them so.

in her own words regarding what she wants them to look like "I dont want them to look reptilian". At length, she also explained to me that she wants to use the rules for CO, she just doesnt find them visually appealing and thats what is most important to her - I suggested she sculpts extra armour and spikes onto the horses, which would account for the slower speed and toughness of the proxy cold one horses, plus make for a very unique looking unit.

Yes I think the spikes and armour option would be cool. The lower movement can be accounted for, so can the better save. The extra strenth represents the blades cutting into men, and stupidity could represent the horses paniking from the occational 'jabbing' that might occur.

Edit: Draegath you are one lucky guy to have a Warhammer playing girlfriend! I got to find myself one of those
