I'm fighting a battle next week, my Dark Elf army vs an opponents City Guard army;
This should be quite an interesting game, the solid immobile shooty force meeting the dark elf army of my own devising...
My plan is to essentially hide my force (so I'll be going for smallish fast moving cavalry) in cover, or possibly behind a big shield wall of foot troops and hit my opponent with Sorceress after sorceress after sorceress.
Its a 1500 point battle, I'll be fighting 6 RBT and I'll be fielding 3 Sorceresses.
Level 2 Sorceresses, On a cold one with darkstar cloak, black staff- Principle Offensive Spell Caster,
Level 2 Sorceress; Seal of Ghrond, Dispel Scroll- Principle dispeller
Level 2 Sorceress; Crystal of Midnight, Dispel Scroll- to mess up her only sorceress.
What sort of troops do you think I should take? I'm going for 2 units of dark riders, some harpies, a shield wall of foot soldiers and a small unit of Cold One Knights.
Everything hides, while I kill bolt throwers with Harpies and Magic. Then my cavalry kill the remaining city guard units alongside magic.
The main weakness of city guard in my opinion is the lack of magic defence, so my main offence is magic.
I wish you luck on the battle, but I relaay don`t think DE have got any magic that`s suited to take out an army of this kind, as almost every spell requires LoS and that few have any good range, so you`ll have to get into close range of the RBTs and into range of all the RXBs as well. Then there are the core CoK to worry about... Not that I really can devise a better plan than you in this case, I just like to point out the shortcomings of other peoples plans
What's the strength of tincan brets?
Charging lance and extra ranks
Charge their flanks with some Dark Riders,
Give the silly knights some spanks!
Words from the Russian poet Svart.
I had this great plan! I was going to take a Level 2 Sorceress, give her Shadow Lore and cast steed of shadows on a unit of cold one knights to get them into charge range.
Then I realised it can only be cast on individuals...on foot...
But I could theoretically cast Steed of Shadows on another Sorceress to get her into LOS then cast a really big powerful spell?
I'm banking here on my opponent being a total idiot and not owning dispel scrolls or dice...
