A Vamp Counts friend and myself are always debating the following:
Could Malus DBlade, as described in the army book with his potion et al, take on and defeat a Vampire - namely a Vamp count (not lord, obviously)?
I ALWAYS argue "Hell yeah" but my perdantic opponent says no way.
If I look at the stats of Malus, his abilities once the potion is swallowed and the fact that Spite does not have stupidity, I recon he would be a match for any vampire count (and not lord...).
What do you guys think?
TBH I'm not sure, it would balance a lot on what the vamp took for items. If he has a ward I'd say Malus would loose, only T5 and no ward with on a 3+ save he'll be wounded on 4's and this means only a 5+ sv. Not much really. But on the attack then he stands a very decent chance, 4 attacks wounding on 4's and no save means the vamps also relying on a 5+ (Ring Of Night).
The thing is the vamp has a trump card, IoN. He can heal his wounds and if a BD he would stand a much better chance, Malas would have to kill it in the first turn or rely on good/poor dice rolls for himself/opponent.
Verdict - Tie; If malas get the charge then maybe. Otherwise it doesn't look good for the Kinslayer.
Yeah, its a pity he didnt have better armour. Or at least a better armour save.
I agree with you. He does stand a good chance of inflicting hits and wounds, but I think that actually killing the blood-suckers will be very hard indeed.
Thanks for the advice King.
well instead of debating why not just fight it out between them and then you'l know and if you dont have the models

ya, malus really needs a sea dragon cloak, and a shiled, as his weapon is 1 handed. this would make him a lot more worth it, as it is he dies pretty ridiculously fast.
the model even comes with a sea dragon cloak... but he don't have it in the rules
If Malus had a sea dragon cloak in his rules then that would be sweet. Just an improvement of 1 to his close combat Armour Save and the 2 added to his armour save against range would make him a lot more viable...
Ah, but we can only dream...

It appears to me that Reignfire's Dark elf Lord on a Mantikor had a bad experience with Vampire Counts.
You spelt Manticore wrong...
I would say that against a well kitted out Blood Dragon Lord, he would have no chance in hell. Huge strength and his bloodline powers would easily take care of Malus. If a blood dragon lord can take out Archaon 3 out of 4 times, Malus would be easy pickings.
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
