Why are corairs more offensive than spearmen?

    Hey, i have a query.

I always hear people say that corsairs are better at CC and being offensive than spearmen, and that spearmen are better defensive..but then.. i check the codex, and their stats are exactly the same, the only difference is the sea dragon cloak, which only gives the same armour save as a spearmen with shield anyway..

The ONLY benefit i can see is the +2 save vs shooting, which only means less of them will die BEFORE combat.. so what the hell actually makes them better than warriros IN combat??. is it something to do with 2 hand weapons? does that mean they have some kind of CC bonus? or am i right that the sea dragon cloak is the only difference?

    Any help would be great.

    cheers

Yes, look up what two hand weapons do in the BRB page 88, 'Fighting with a weapon in each hand'.

Fighting with 2 hand weapons gives you an extra attack dude. Corsairs have 2 attacks each and the same save as spearmen in combat. Hence they are better offensively, as when spearmen charge they only fight in one rank, or is they are reduced to one ranks, then they will have reduced attacks. However, Corsairs on the other hand are better because they always have 2 attacks each. See? (That also means, it you look at Witch Elves, that they have 3 attacks each, all poisoned, because they have frenzy and 2 hand weapons on top of their normal 1 attacks).

I dunno if you don't know what that means, but just in case, it means the rulebook.
