as far as i can tell, Morathi is a highly unused character.
i receintly used her in a 3000 CoS army and found her extremely fun and effective. with 3000pt tho, her value isnt as cumbersome in a 2000pt-2500pt army. anyone have any experience using her at that price range?
-she is quite a bit better in CoS as she can pick spells from Slaneesh AND Dark, but i actually used mostly Dark with her.
I have fond memories of her taking out 12/16 dwarf warriors with a Black Horror spell, but somehow, she (well, I, really) tends to miscast far too often for my liking. I have yet to see her in close quarters, but I think I'd rather keep her out of harm's way. I tend to play battles of 2,000 or less as my regular opponents cannot field balanced armies above that. If you've more luck than I with the power dice, she can be quite a fearsome wizard. With her +2 to casting rolls she can use her power dice very efficiently, indeed.
Morathi is a far more points effective special character than Malekith and as such she is the only magic orientated character that can be taken.
With her numerous special rules and her mount she is an apt wizard and a can easily keep herself out of harms way,
All in all a nice character to use, even in battles as small as 2000 points,
In my experience Morathi is a exelent character choice (mind that I've only used her once). The problem that i find with her is that shes so expensive in 2000pt battles. I usually prefer to go with a Highborn and 2 sorceresses, or in CoS i take an Anointed and 2 Sorceresses.
In the battle that i played her it was 3500pts and i took her and an Anointed. (i like her way more in CoS because she brings Ld 10 into the side). She did really well, blasted a unit of Saurus of the table with Black Horror and soul stealer. she stopped the 2nd generation slaan from casting with enrapturing spasms and killed a number of skinks. I luv her magic (specially when theres 2 other lvl2 sorceresses and a lvl1 anointed on the same team). But her CC is also really good: the slaan was causing some troubles (bloody comet landing on my CoK's...) and she charged it and over 3 or 4 turns she killed it (no body guard).
IMO definatly take her in 3000+ battles, but in a 2000 or 2500 pt battle i personally wouldnt take her...but then i usually face lizards (lots of dispel) and orcs (need CC lord). Against other teams i think she could be deadly in 2500pts battles.
Wow there's something less points effective than a character with toughness 3, a ward save that's negated by anything magical and on top of it all rides around on a Dragon of all things?Originally Posted by Captain.Snowball

Sailor by career, pirate by heart.
Indeed!My sarcasm senses are tingling!
I was merely pointing out that in my experiance morathi can be a useful addition to a DE army whereas Malekith is usually encumbering rather than overly helpful.
