Has anyone tried all cav armies with darkelves. Cold One Knights, Cold One Chariots, and Dark Riders supported 1 hero lord then rest of the mounted hero slots for sorceress (mounted also).
I was thinking 2 small blocks of COK (8 a piece), 1 Cold One Chariot, and the rest Dark Riders in groups of Five.
My experiences with cavalry armies in general is that you do require some form of light shooting infantry to whittle down their oposing counters.
The four things that make up a good cavalry list imho are:
-good cheap fast cavalry
-good hard hitting cavalry
-infantry based shooting
Now obviously the best cavalry armies are Bretonnians, HE, and Chaos. Bretonnians as you know have awesome core cav, wonderful core archers, and then amazingly good fast cav. (especially as they can take standards in the fast cav units without fear of losing VPs). Chaos comes with: core chariots, core fast cav, and core hard cavalry. Their only downfall is the absolute lack of shooting, which means their own fast cav die rather quickly.
So as Dark Elves you have good infantry based shooting, *great* fast cav, and then heavy cav and chariots as special. This means in a 2000 point game you are limited to 4 choices in the heavy department.
I would go with 2 chariots, 2 squads of 5 CoKs, 2 units of crossbowmen, and then pour poinst into fast cav. Your hero choices look good, though 2 sorceresses may be enough. A combat noble could be great to add some hitting power on your charges.
The main flaw I see in most cav army lists is larger point units. Keep everything as cheap as possible. Shoot for a maximum point cost in most units of 160. This keeps the army light, and you have the option of throwing away units without worrying about VPs too much. Your opponent, upon destroying a unit of cavalry, can also become foolhardy, and yet at the end it is revealed that he has killed far fewer points than he thought.
The Hierarchy Chaotica: Kinky Sex > Change > Disease > Blood
98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
With our heavies and chariots being prone to stupidity be wary
See the top pic in the inside cover? Armys similar to that count as all cavlery if you wanted to build one. I had Malus for the general and then pretty much the same (twas back befoe i realised not to take DR in large units lol)
I haven't got a cav army 'cos our cav is STUPID, but I think it is probably a good idea. What, you take mals darkblade, a couple of units of 10 cok's, 40 dark riders, a couple o cvhariots, a few upgrades, yeah you could do it-if you had about $400 to spare.
Or when you have praticaly a huge amount of models already =)
But i used someting like malus/ sorc on horse (non stupid) two units of COK 3 of DR (two of em with rxb)
Ill try and find the list i used but itis on a piece of paper among loads of others
As for the Dark Riders, i plan to convert them by using the glade riders. Yeah its very expensive to collect all Original Dark Riders.
Any conversion ideas?
You use Glade Riders with bits from either the Dark Elf or Dark Eldar boxes to make them look a bit more evil. Yes Dark Eldar parts!
yeah agreed... or make the bits you need using green stuff. Generally you'll need to make more dark eflish mantles and replace the bow with a crossbow (steal from warrior box or buy the fancy metal ones).Originally Posted by Dark Lioness
