    Trident attack vs dwarves

ok, we all know dwarves are a tough nut to crack when in defense mode. So i was mulling over my lists & battle plans.. one of the main problems is his ability to take a cheap bolt thrower with rune of penetration, bumping it up to S7.. enough to take out my chariots in 1 shot  . & since i have a 200 pt lord in one of them.. i decided i needed a plan.. We've all heard of the 'pincer'.. well, i call this one: the 'trident' :shifty:

basically i will place the 2 chariots side by side in a fairly open position.. he will get excited at seeing his 2 juicy targets and deploy his bolt thrower in the best position to shoot them.. now that i know where it is.. i place a unit of 20 spearmen in front of the chariots, between them & the bolt thrower.. effectively blocking the line of sight. (unless he's lucky enough to get high ground & see over them.. hopefully i can win the roll to choose deployment zone).

Then since chariots cant march move anyway, they can just plod along behind the marching spearmen, basically straight towards the bolt thrower, so they still block line of sight.
Then after (or on) the second turn of movement. or once im getting close to his lines.. The spearmen charge straight forward and engage an enemy unit, the two chariots break away left & right, then turn a little, just enough to face the flanks of the enemy unit. (if you drew this move in arrows, it looks like a trident! )
The chariot with the lord will break away in the direction that keeps him hidden from the bolt thrower (by the combat). The spearmen might not do too well but with the highborns Ld they should definately atleast hang around until next turn so that the chariots can smash into the flanks.
Now, they can no longer be shot at since they are engaged in melee. And by the time the combat is finished, my harpies should be swooping down on the bolt thrower..eating their faces and what not

Sounds pretty good on paper to me..

(once again, whish, if your reading this, stop spying!!)

Any thoughts? any flaws here? keep in mind the highborns Ld10 should make stupidity tests fairly safe.

the dwarf army, quite possibly, will have a grudge thrower which can be quite devastating and a cannon would just plough those spearmen wiht out thinking of the damage. any troops infront of the bolts would help defend it especially long beards. but the ideas good. Against my army that wouldn't be much of a problem with a grudge thrower, organ gun, 2 boltthrowers and a unit of DOW heavy cavalry involved

Interesting. I think Shades would be better because your opponent must target the skirmishers if they are closer.

He doesnt have a grudge thrower or DOW cavalry. he has 2 stone throwers in that particular list along with the bolt thrower

Like i said the idea isnt to actually kill the bolt thrower.. its to keep the chariots safe from it until they can get into combat, which makes them unshootable.
I meant its a bonus if the harpies kill it
