I've been playing with this thought: A unit with, lets say, 8 cold one knights with warbannerbearer with hydrabanner. Then you get 19 attacks.
And maybe a cauldron.. attacks with 5WS wound rerollable.. mm..
Or maybe that just costs way too much?
Yes, it's a little too costly for my tastes.
However, post-revision, the Cauldron of Blood has become a bit more useful, so there are some definite advantages to using it in your army- especially if you try to use it with an army with an MSE strategy.
units of Executioners with 2 chances to killing blow
units of Black Guard that reroll failed rolls to hit and to wound, on the first round of combat
Witch Elves with multiple chances to poison...
Sure... it's an expensive army, but it's funny... because it WORKS. I didn't believe it until I saw it, but it's amazing. Cold One Knights are a great unit, but I don't think COKs and the CoB are really that good a matchup.
Yeah, i'll take the cauldron in my next game. Gonna dump the knight-idea there though
I thought chance to poison was when you got a /bleep\ on hit, not wound. I gotta read the rulebook again :/
I'm new in this forum. MSE? Minor Special Elite?
Ah, your right about the witch elves, lol, sorry- Witch Elves have they're own advantages to being within the cauldron of blood, wasn't paying attention
MSE is multiple small elites. PM me, and i'll send you a link to learn about it. It's an interesting means of army development.
I'm glad to see you use the Cauldron! In my time as a Dark Elf player, I've rarely seen it, unfortunately. It's such a beautiful model.
Yeah, a big guy that sorta looks like the Eldar Avatar.. He's very similar.. And Avatar is named the bloody handed god ¬¬ I got that fellow.. maybe i can use him in my Dark Elf army for something?
Does this Multiple Small Elites work good against massraces like skaven? God, i hate those pesky little rats.
And what about Dark Magic? Nay or yay? I personally like the dominion.. then i can turn around a bigass regiment so i can flank it. That magic vortex works good against anything.. MM, chaos chosen knights without armor saves Bit hard to cast though. Guess that 6"-range spell is kinda good too. I gotta think about what sort of regiment i would put my sorceress in..
MSU/MSE is a great tactic to use against Skaven (MSU is your best best, MSE might struggle some). MSU is actually specifically designed to combat hordes.
Dark Magic is great, but remember it's not destructive- it's tactical. Dominion, Chillwind, Word of Pain, etc. are all tactical spells. They aren't designed to give you an overwhelming edge in the magic phase, but rather to let your superior tactics have an easier time of working. I'd take some
Word of pain aint very good, and chillwind is a magic missile. Dominion on the other hand kicks so much ass. Used right its better then most magics in the game
I have an upcoming game against skaven.. Gonna see if i win for once, i usually always loose <_<
I'd go for the multiple attack knights, i meant what skaven unit can resist that chargE? they could go on rampage!!
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
Word of Pain isn't great, but it has it's uses. And Chillwind is a magic missle sure, but one wound, and there's a squad on the board that's not shooting for a turn (try it on a big unit of skinks . And I'm still undefeated against Skaven, so hopefully you'll do fine (they really aren't THAT tough).
If i just could get lucky with magic once.. Like Black Horror in his warbanner unit with general. 5" template sweetness.
I'm still thinking of a good army list against skaven. Those plaguemonks are better then witchelves with their low cost..
