I was thinking of using the magic banner from the SoC list, which features the word Shadow in the name somewhere. I believe this lets you rally automatically (THE SAME TURN THAT YOU FLED) after you flee from a charge, and allows the flee reaction even if immune to psych. I have a few questions about the banner, and a tactic I hope people will give me opinions on.
1. Is the banner considered widely acceptable? I know a lot of people dislike the CoS army list, but do most people have problems with using the magic items in normal DE lists?
2. Does the banner work with witch elves? They are frenzied, so they normally can't flee combat, but does the banner override this, or only immune to psych?
And the tactic: I was thinking of having a big meaty unit of corsairs with this banner. They would run up and draw a charge, flee and autorally so they could charge again their next turn. They would position themselves such that something could flank whatever failed a charge against them, and the baited unit would find itself front and flank charged in a single turn. Seems pretty devastating to me. Do others think this is worthwhile, or better yet, have experience doing it?
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
Why would psychological immunity prevent a flee reaction?
I think that is only the case for frenzied troops,
As for the name of the standard, its the 'soul shadows standard'.
I heard that they are planning to ban all SoC army lists soon anyways, which will mean the loss of the CoS special new magic items including the standard.
At the moment however, it doesn't matter whether or not its 'acceptable', its LEGAL and therefore you can use it regardless of what people say.
As for the tactic with the corsairs:
1) Without the battle standard bearer, corsairs can only carry 25 points of magic banner
2) this banner is usually more effective on a unit such as executioners or black guard as they are harder hitting than corsairs.
One of my favourites is to give a unit of executioners the soul shadows banner, stick in a battle standard bearer with the hydra banner and THEN do the charging etc.
not true, corsairs are able to carry up to 50pts worth of banners, which includes the CoS banner. unless somewhere in the errata it says different, and i cant find it
I love units that are Immune to Psychology, never have to worry about them fleeing, leaving you stuck in the middle of nowhere. So that banner could come as a big surprise, throwing people completely off their game.

well theirs always the 90% chance someone would have shot the crap out of them 1st turn, making it useless.
