Was flicking through the DE book t'other day and noticed that a Hag with mabane dishes out 4 WS5 attacks at a good strength.
Now a lot of hero characters don't get that, i was thinking that i might make the most of this "hidden" character by taking to units of wytch elves in my hypothetical list (although i'm sure i'll sart the Druchii one day^_^) each led by a Hag with Manbane.
3 or 4 units of spears and a unit of harpies also look to add something to this list, only problem is the best character setup to go with this. Obviously i'm gonna want a BSB and some form of magic offence/defence.
So what i'm asking really is a) do you like the Hag with Manbane? and b) What you think a good character setup would be for my list?
Sounds like a good idea to me, but with the points cost of manbane (don't have the book on me, going off of flawed memory), it could get really costly with 2 or 3 of those units.
But yeah, other than that, it sounds like you're about to apply a world of hurt.
Sailor by career, pirate by heart.
One thing i like about the DE is that you can knock out 25 spears with shields and full command for 225 pts, so numbers can quickly be built up.
Any ideas on the character setup?
Well, I've used the hag+ manbane combo in my 2K battle against daemons.
You get to use them once as the opponent will aim enough attacks back to kill
her (she's T3 with no save). If there's no attacks coming back your way, then
it's cool! With the High I, you should be striking first anyway. I reckon she's
worth using. I used 2 units of 15 witch elves. Should be affordable.
Not too sure about your character. Do you want a beastmaster/manticore to
give you some oomph? Or maybe a lvl4 sorceress for your magical needs ...
If your going for the 'Hidden character' theme then maybe you might consider a single noble to lead the army from a spearmen unit. The field a couple of assasins and the mighty shadowblade (who deploys IN THE ENEMY ARMY!!)
Another point to consider, if your going witch elves heavy maybe even invest in the cauldron of blood??
Personally to pricey to be effective for me but it gives them all a ward save which is the only save they get!!
I agree.I would never take 315 points of witch elves. They just die too quickly.
Witch elves have NO protection whatsoever. I only ever use them as small units (10-15 strong) of flankers or for counter charges. For my hag i prefer using rune of khaine or something similar that helps that little bit extra with attacks.
Manbane isn't all that usefull when your using poisoned weapons anyway,
personally i use them exclusivly against undead, why? cause they rock when backing up your spearmen. So when those necs get up units of 40+ skeles you always have the option of taking Witch Brew so you dont auto break 90% of the time
Darks Elves 6000ptsWood Elves 500pts (WIP)
Imperial Guard 5000pts
Witch Brew is the ONLY thing to take. It's utterly awesome, and witch elves on their own are deadly killing machines (except they die really easily), the hag doesn't need to add anything with manbane.
