Alright so my club has a Warbands league we're starting for the month of september. And Since I've got a couple of regiments of reknown I figured What the hell DOW. (The funny thing is some of the people around the local store think their cheese, I beg to differ) But anyway Here's a general template of what I was thinking about fielding. Actual unit size will be determined later. But I wanted feedback first.
(I'm still unsure about this one, but I'm thinking harrassment on this one)
Either Long drongs pirates or the birdmen
What would you recommend or suggest?
*I expect a response in a month^ (lol sorry kind of dead forum couldn't resist)
I've never used DOW but I took Long Drong in a small game with my Dwarfs once and they dont really do enough in small numbers. Theyre certainly not a game winner at this level and I would think thats what you need to supplement your pikes.
Current painting project: 2300 pts of Dwarfs in 5 weeks.
I'm actually thinking duelests to help the pikes. Since I have to take one regiment of renown under warbands rules making one of the pike units riccos republicans, leopolds lepards, or the alcatani. Not Pirazzos because then i wouldn't be moving at all! Yay crossbows. I havn't played DOW in a while so the drawing board is still getting filled with ideas =).
Whoa a new post!
I actually came up with a better Idea. Mengil's manflayers as a scout harassment. And some pikemen and duelists to fill up the core. It's nasty. unfortunatley since DOW have gone the way of the squats with GW you'll never see it on the table again.
Meh, I still play as Dogs. Menghil is a good harasser, but so ridiculously expensive, and when I used him I had a bad encounter with some unforseen fanatics... still, very nasty in CC, they are.
But yeah, don't ever consider the birdmen, and Long Drong is actually pretty good with pikes as he's a charge taker, really.
And yeah, Heavy Cav are cheap and cheerful, and Dogs do have a lot of worries against Shooty armies *grumbles about dwarf gunlines*
