Now that LO's back I can post my latest battle report.
Here's the list I was using against my mate's Hell Pit skaven list.
Captain (General) Warhorse, heavy armour, lance, shield
L2 wizard - Lore of Fire
Paymaster, heavy armour, shield, great wpn
8 duellists + pistol
5 light cav, bows
6 Heavy Cav, standard bearer
15 norsemen, great wpn, sb + champion
4 Ogres, great weapon, champion
It's basically half of my 2K list, Hastrouble has been "demoted" to
a captain, I've lost most of my infantry and the cavalry no
longer has barding. I like to have as many units as possible, even
at the cost of losing most of my ranks. My plan is to cause as many
casualties as possible (everything is S4 or S5 apart from the light cav)
and set up flank charges with my cavalry units.
Is it a tad cheesy taking a cannon in 1K points, do you reckon? Although
with my luck I reckon not ...
Any comments or suggestions?
Yes I like it but just a few things. If you going for assault then I wouldn't bother with the xbowmen - they're not likely to get their pts back. Instead you should keep the aspect of your army and go OgreCav in my opinion. It's fast, strong and hard hitting, and that way the rest of your force won't be left behind. It's great as it is your list though it'd be nice for that... just a recomendation...
"Well... that hurt" - Vampire Jon Skellan (Mannfred's right hand man) after being beaten up, falling down an underground waterfall and being impaled by a stalactite.
Actually, you're right - in the game the xbows didn't do too much.
It's just that I like to be able to _something_ in every phase, and
my cannon tends to misfire 2/3rds of the time!
I suppose I could swap them for 5 more light cav, they have bows ...
