I'm planning on buying a Regiment of Renown and I'm wondering:
Which one do you think is the best?
Please note that I want to ba able to use it in both my Dogs of War army and other armies as mercenaries.

Well none are really the best, each will play to their strengths. The main use is to have them block the weakness of your army, for example if you play dwarfs some light/heavy cav would give you some manoverbility etc.

If you can tell us a little bit more, we maybe able to advise better.

    To name some:

Long Drong's Slayer Pirates are great fun and a very good speed bump unit, however a bit expensive.

Uglah Khan's Wolf Boyz ar very good flankers, as they'll run down any unit.

Voland's Venators are great value for any dogs of war army.

Beorg and the bearstruck are a very good sturdy unit, with a big character.

I agree with Ulrik, name a role you want them to fulfill and the army you want to put them in. Then we can help you.

Well, I've got a goblin army with lots of goblins and goblin wolf riders (and a few orcs as well), so I guess some missile support would be useful. Heavy infantry or cavalry would also be good.

I've also got a High Elf army with archers, RBT's swordsmasters, spearmen, shadow warriors and Silver Helms. Heavily armoured pikemen or fast cavalry might work for this army, or some stronger artillery/missile troops.

I'm currently building a Dogs of War army consisting only of Regiments of Renown, more for fun than tactical dominance, so an alround unit would be useful here.

    Well, anyone got any suggestions?

Get Ricco's reublican guard, maybe Pizzaro's lost legion.
Then you may consider Al Muktar's desert dogs, and do not pass up on golfang's ogres, as they eat everything.

In your DOW army, get giants of Albion as your rare choices.
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel allright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace, and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.

The cursed company is very good, but expensive points wise (as are all RoR). Causing fear can be fun though.

The bearmen are wicked, the wearbear is a monster in close combat.

The ogres are useful, but can suck up a lot of points.

I have found Lumpin Crook to be a very useful unit, at a great point cost. The pikemen units are also very good, especially the lepoard company, as they are immune to psychology.

Good luck, the financial costs on these guys are now pretty steep!

Thanks for your help, I'll probably get the Republican Guard as I like the models or the Cursed Company because of their cool models and rules. As for the ogres... Well they'll have to wait.

Definantly Arsinil the Dragonlord. Hey guess what, my 2000 point High Elf WotB list can have FIVE FRIGGEN DRAGONS
-My Warrior Priest will challenge your Chaos Lord
-OK, my Chaos lord will slaughter you
-My warrior priest with Van Hortsmen's Speculum will take his 7 Str 8 attacks. You die.
    -......What?
-Take your model off the table, he's dead
