I prefer the shooty one ;o

There are some minor mistakes in the list:
-you cannot duplicate the rune of battle on the same banner
-it is useless to take a great weapon and then make it runic, until you want to take the MR of Kragg. Just go for the basic hand weapon that is already included.

Would you like to get a cannon and an organ, maybe?
At <2000 they would be devastating imo since:
-you would expect few large targets for your cannon, to focus fire upon
-there may be some bulk units to grind with the organ
To do this you could lose the copter, the duplicated banner, the great weapons from everyone (give shields to longbeards for absolute durability), and two bolt throwers.
I know this is a big remodelling, but maybe it could be worth it; still, i'm not sure 8Y

And then i'm not convinced about the hero setup; since you have limited cc offense, you could boost them with runes of fury, to kill more rank'n'file (and also take champions for units).

So to sum up it would be something like this

    3x10 thunderers with musician

20 warriors with shields, standard, champion

20 ironbreakers with standard, champion, rune of battle

20 longbeards with shields, standard, champion, MR of grugni

2 bolt throwers with engineer who carries a brace of pistols (this way you could seriously win cc against fast cavalries and flyers): one machine with rune of penetrating, the other with penetrating and fire

1 cannon with engineer as above, plus rune of the forge

    1 organ gun

1 runesmith general, with MR of spite, plus rune of fire and fury

1 runesmith, with rune of fury and 2 runes of spellbreaking

    total: 1998 pts, 111 models, 6 dispel+2scrolls

Hope this helps, anyway i like your list even without modifications

    cheers
    It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.

    Both are rotten.

The 'Battle Version' has plenty of potential. (Personal taste, but I just don't like Dwarf Gunlines, anyway.)

In the Battle Version, I shall run down the list and offer my critiques. Most of these are just my opinion, so they can be disregarded as you see fit.

In the Core section, the Thunderers are fine. The Warriors could use Muscians and be boosted to 25 strong. The Longbeards could use Shields and would do well with Full Command. It's not too expensive, and it's always good to have an extra Great Weapon attack on the front rank. The Standard is nice.

In the Special Section, I like the Ironbreakers. They are a great anvil supporting the Longbeards' metaphorical hammer.

I don't like the rest of your Special selections. Just because the Bolt Thrower doesn't misfire doesn't mean it's the only War Machine to take. I think two of them are enough. A Cannon or a Grudge Thrower would be very beneficial in dealing with Horde armies. A well-placed cannonball or big rock can take out a large unit better than any bolt ever could.

The Gyrocopter I'm iffy on. I've never been a fan of them, I would be more likely to take an Organ Gun, if I were even to take a Rare selection at all.

    Finally, your characters.
In an Infantry list, a BSB is a must. A simple BSB-Thane wearing a suit of 'Rune of Gromril Armor' is very hard and makes your battle line basically unbreakable. He would do well if placed with the Ironbreakers or Longbeards. Anyplace near the center to maximize its effect.
The better Runesmith, I feel would be armed with a Great Weapon and a shield, and have the Master Rune of Balance. To me, that's worth more than a bunch of Dispel Scrolls.
Add a simple Thane of Pain and you've got a much more well-rounded and competitive list, I think.
