I recently bought the Skull Pass box as it seemed the most economical way to start a dwarven army. Now I'm kind of stuck. Can anyone suggest the best way to expand to an eventual 1500pt army?
This is what is in the kit:
1 dragon slayer
1 cannon (3 crew)
If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much in advance,
what i would do whould be to buy a runesmith (encential against magic) and maybe an organ gun... and then you have 2 ways to go.
1)Melee heavy... Buy ironbreakers or alot more warriors/longbeards or slayers so you can beef up your ranks and steamroll across the table crushing anyone in your path
2)Gunline... Buy more thunderers/quarellers (including 1 more box of warriors or so). Sit back and wait for the enemy to come get you while you shoot the hell out of him with thunderers and cannons/organ guns
1) Battalion box : $80 gives you 24 warriors, (total of 36 now) 16 thunderers/quarrelers (i would personaly build them as Quarallers)(brings range up to 26) and a cannon (can be built as OG (do it))
2) Grudge thrower: ~$20 Best thrower in game great to have one
3) Elite units, $varied Slayers, Ironbreakers, Hammerers are all great to have
4) Characters, the afformentioned Runesmith, and the 2 lord pack (bsb and thane for like 10 bucks)
quick off the head 1500 list (using BoSP, Bat, 2 lord)
20 HWs (Fc)
16 2h (FC)
individual point costs aren't listed for obvious reasons
but this here will set you back about another 90->110 dollars depending on where you get things and puts you at 1238 points (leaving you 250 for equipment for thanes and war machines)
Painting: 20 quarrelers
thank you so much green monkey team and hondor! i really appreciate the advice. i was definitely going shooty (s'pose i shoulda mentioned that), and hondor's plan is right along my line of thought. im going to try to put myself on an economic leash until gencon and buy the battalion box there (i still have several skull pass dwarfs to paint and a handful of my dark eldar 40k to paint to keep me busy till then). as for what i already have, they will get blooded properly this wednesday as im playing in a 250pt skirmish rules ongoing campaign (250pt>500>750>1000, etc.). thanks again! wish me luck!
