im assuming by chaos you mean deamons and not the usual horde (which are easy to kill with a balanced army)

why strength 8 on the bolt thrower? strength 7 is enough to instakill chariots, and will wound just about anything on 2+ seems a bit of a waste of points to me.

also, with 5 shooty units, you're going to have deployment problems if there is any terrain in your deployment zone, at least if you maximise their width

i also wonder if giving your warriors GW's is a good idea. to win against deamons you need combat res, and with that little armour its doubtful you'll get many hits in.

oh and for your runelord, against deamons the rune of dismay is useless as they are immune to psychology.

beyond that not a bad list, although a bit too much of a gunline for my taste. the hammerers are probably unwieldy as hell to move too
    Oi! Get off me beard!

He will be playing against an old school Hordes of Chaos list (the one that lets you have demons / beastmen as special choices). I know this, because im playing him!

I changed the list a little bit before the match in question and swapped the RuneLord for:

    Lord
    w. Shieldbearers
    w. RO Stone
    w. MR Kragg the Grimm & RO Cleavingx2

The GW question I find kind of tricky - if I dont take them I save points and get the 3+ AS in HtH combat but only strike at S3 or S4 for Longbeards. But with GW I get S5 or S6 hits which helps actually kill the enemy. Have had experiences where without GW my units have stubbornly held out for 2-4 turns without killing anything while they in turn are ritually slaughtered till they eventually break.

I hadnt thought about the S7 vs. S8 on the Bolt-Thrower being overkill and your right cheers for advice

The MR of Dismay I have now learned only really works against low l/ship opponents does that sound right?

... Oh and the change to the Dwarf Lord meant I lost a unit of Quarrellers and increased the size of the remaining two units to 12 models each -

Unfortunately it didnt help you very much kiwi Although it was a close game, a couple of things going differently would have changed a lot!

(the fact you missed my dragon 2 or 3 times didnt help very much)
