For me, themed armies are always close to the heart, since even if you lose, it still feels great. Plus, the rarely include any of the no-brainer cheese crap most people are using at tourneys (I'm not against using them in tourneys, though).
So, I thought I'd start to work on a themed little force for myself, that I could paint up easily in a few weeks and start playing.
The background in short: A dwarven artifact, The Cloudcleaver, is lost. Kharim's trusty old regiment is sent to recover it, with no idea of its whereabouts. A Hermit, an exiled dwarf who calls himself Mjunik, says that he saw the artifact being taken away from the outpost's safehold. Unwilling to tell the information about who, or what, took the items to Kharim, the Thane has no other options but to let the mysterious master-of-axes lead them to the treasure. Instead of giving the treasured war-axe away in the end of the adventure, Mjunik intends to keep the sacred artifact and cast down his former brothers.
On to the list:
Thane Kharim - 81 pts
-Crossbow, Great weapon. Shield and a Rune of Stone
Mjunik the hermit (Dragon Slayer) - 75 pts
-Rune of Snorri Spanghelm
10 Quarrellers - 130 pts
10 Quarrellers - 130 pts
so, some shooting and some whacky-whacky. I'm not entirely sure of the Bolt throwers, they somehow don't seem to fit the wandering band of rangers, but they fit the crossbow theme quite well. Any ideas on how to improve the characters, and/or special choices are welcome, as long as they go well together with the theme. Core will remain the same, that's for sure.
So the slayer is gonna keep the axe or kill the others when he gets it? It doesn't seem to fit the Dwarf fluff. Slayers though they are disgraced for some deed, will not kill there own for some treasure. Slayers are trying to redeem themselves to get to the hall of the ancestors not go to hell. But onto the list.
If you want to get rid of the bolt throwers then I would go with slayers, quarrellers, or rangers.
Also the thane has a shield and Great weapon. You can only use one at a time so I would keep the GW to keep with the what the quarrellers have.
There you go hope it helped
