    1500 pt Balanced

    Here's my try at getting a fairly balanced all around army. Currently competing in an in-store campaign going up 250 pts per round.

    Please let me know what your thoughts about this list are:

    General 144
    -Great Weapon: Mst Rn Kragg & rune of cleaving
    -Armor-Mst Rune of Gromril

    BSB 195
    -Mstr Rune Grungni, Rn Guarding, Rn of Stoicism

    RuneSmith 147
    -Shield/ Armor Rn of Resistance
    -Rn Spellbreaking (x2)

    16 Warriors w/ Musician & Veteran - 159
    -Shield

    15 Longbeards w/Mus & Stand & Veteran - 285
    -Mus/Stand/Veteran
    Great Weapon/shields
    Runic Standard: Rune of Courage & Rune of Determination

    10 Quarrellers ... 125
    -Musician / shields

    10 Quarrellers ... 125
    -Musician / shields

    Bolt Thrower... 85
    Engineer
    -Rune of Penetrating

    Bolt Thrower... 90
    Engineer
    -Runes of Penetrating & Burning

    Flame Canon ... 140

    Comp: Total points 1495
    Heroes: 3
    Core Units: 4
    Special: 1 (2x bolt thrower)
    Rare: 1 (Flame Canon)

    Notes: Shields on Longbeards can be swapped out for an extra warrior or longbeard if I'm not facing a shooty opponent

    Deployment is another area I suck at, so any tips appreciated there.

    Does he really need S7? If not you could give him rune of snorri spangelhelm or rune of fury instead.

    I don't think the BSB is really necessary unless you get him for strollaz's rune. MR of Grungni is good but you could just put it on the Longbeards banner instead.

    Armour side is good, but i think it is a must to give him a MR of balance instead of 2x R of spellbreaking. MR of balance works the whole game instead of just 2 spells and effectively gives you 2 extra dispel dice.

    -Shield
    With Dwarf warriors you really should be looking at units of 20 minimum, 25 is even better. The shields are good.
    15 Longbeards w/Mus & Stand & Veteran - 285
    -Mus/Stand/Veteran

    Runic Standard: Rune of Courage & Rune of Determination
    Even with Longbeards i think you should have aunit of 20 - this can be achieved by dropping the BSB and putting MR of Grungni on the Lonbeards instead.

    Just my opinion, but i don't think it is necessary to have 2 BT with the R of penetrating - one is enough. I do like R of burning though, it is actually very useful for only 5 points and i try to give one to every war machine in my army.
    Flame Canon ...
    I have never actually used a flame cannon before, i only ever use an organ gun or gyrocopter, so no comment really.

    Just a few thoughts for you, hope they help.

    Thanks Turtle.

    I like most of your advice.

    the one thing I won't go without is my BSB. Evidently you missed my rant on how often I roll 10s 11s and 12s on panic and break tests.

    I'd rather have two chances for rolling small numbers and failing miserably than just one.

    After all, two rolls in row of 10 to 12 for a stubborn break test, wins much more sympathy from other gamers than just doing so once (and thereby losing the game either way).
