    Dwarf 750 - Tourney

    Hi guys, this is a list for a 750 point tournament coming up on Sunday, and I wanted to get some advice from y'all before I set it in stone.

    My basic strategy is to outdamage in ranged combat with my 2 war machines, refuse magic with runesmith, thereby forcing close combat. having reduced the enemy's numbers, I'm hoping I can win with combat res in close combat.

    In this plan, I'm planning on putting my thane with my warriors and the runesmith with the ironbreakers.

    I have 2 main questions for this strategy: 1. should I even have a runesmith in this army? or drop him and beef up my IBs and warriors? and 2. if the runesmith belongs in this army, should I actually attack with him in the IB unit, or should I keep him in the back, in relative safety?

    Runesmith: Shield + Rune of Spellbreaking (Auto dispel, 1 use only) + Rune of Stone (+1 Armor Save) = 102

    Core
    13 Warriors + FC = 142

    Special
    13 Ironbreakers + FC = 199
    Bolt Thrower + Rune of Penetrating + Engineer = 85

    Rare
    Organ gun = 120

    Total = 745

    First you need 2 core. 2 is the minimum for 1,000 and under. Bump warriors to 15. 2 ranks will give you more dept.

    Hammerers would probably give you more utility for the buck, great weapons and shields. I would only field Ironbreakers are 2,000 or 2,500

    Crossbowmen are a good idea at low point games if you need a replacement for the ironbreakers (for a core)They have extra range, and you get to pick on units from the begining, and lets you trade toe to toe with woodelves.

    Unless you plan on facing magic heavy armies, a single character would be more advisable. A thane with shield, great weapon and a rune of stone is plenty efficient.

    ouch, can't believe I missed that. ok, here's the new list:

    Heroes
    Thane: Shield + Master Rune of Swiftness (Strike First) + Rune of Stone (+ 1 Armor Save) = 97
    Thane: Great weapon (+2 str) + Rune of Stone (+ 1 Armor Save) = 74

    Core
    14 Warriors + shields + FC = 151
    14 Longbeards + Great Weapons (+2 str) + FC = 221

    Special
    Bolt Thrower + Rune of Penetrating + Engineer = 85

    Rare
    Organ gun = 120

    Total = 748

    thane w/shield goes with warriors, thane w/great weapon goes with longbeards.

    Longbeards? If i were you i'd drop this unit, and replace it by 10 quarrelers with either great weapons or shields.

    Good.

    Good.
