Here's my attempt at a 1000pt marching force. The more feedback the better!
Thane BSB goes in longbeards, and i believe i'll throw the other one in the warriors, which gives me a few more points, possibly a musician in the hammerers or miners.
-Master Rune of Gromril
Dwarf Warriors x15
Dwarf Longbeards x14
-Rune of Stoicism
-Rune of Battle
Total pts = 1000
looks pretty good to me, i remember when i had started playing FB over 2 yrs ago my friend had a similar armylist to this one ( 1k pts as well ) and he owned me hands down.
the gyrocopter is the key. use it well. and protect ur flanks. i love this list so well done
Looks pretty, good. Strollaz' rune fits with the list. However, I don't think the 10 hammerers are very effective. They will either get shot to ribbons, hardly half will reach combat, or an enemy unit charges them and wipes out the front rank before you can attack back. If you had more ( 15 ) then they would work well, but 10 is just a bit too few to really be effective, unless they don't get touched by magic and shooting.
If you drop the 10 hammerers you can boost the warriors up to 20, the longbeards up to 20, and have 25 pts left for maybe a tasty rune on the thane.
If you drop the rune of stoicism you can change the equipment of your thane to be a bit more awesome. Especially in 1000 pts this rocks, because not many enemies will be able to match something as choppy:
50 pts left, drop thane = 144 pts.
rune of stone
rune of cleaving
rune of fury
rune of snorri spangelhelm ( or a second rune of fury )
That's 4 str 5 attacks, +2 to hit.
Against your usual enemy grunt ( skaven, empire statetroops, goblins, elves, marauders, ungors ) you will hit on 2's and wound on 2's.
the 94 pt tank build works well too though.
Are the 8 Miners really worth it? What about dropping those and increasing hammerers to 15? I play a melee oriented wood elf and tomb kings. Those 4 str 5 attacks are very nice against t3 elfs, and are fine against chariots/scorp too. And thanks for the replies.

mmm.. * calculates *
drop the 8 miners and rune of stoicism on the longbeardbanner and you've got 113 pts left.
48 pts to upgrade the thane in the above mentioned runic combo ( 4 str 5 att. )
65 for those hammerers, with shield option. That's 113 pts precise!
You can also choose 5 miners, or 8 in a bigass line. An 8 wide frontage. Against wood elfs it won't do much good though, but against tomb kings you can show up from the table-edge on his flank while your units are marching forward and you can pin a unit of skellies or something between them and the miners.
A win for the dwarfs. I used the 3 blocks with 15 in each, and no miners. Got to play the tomb kings today, and it ended up as a massacre. This list did suprisingly better than my regular force, and moving my guys up for a change was nice. Marching dwarfs ftw! And thanks for all the help
Offtopic: What is the regular font/size?
