Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'll be playing against Beastmen or possibly Skaven. Well here it goes...
Thane - 74
15 Warriors - 175
15 Longbeards - 270
GWs, FC, RoBattle, RoStoicism
10 Warriors - 110
Rangers, Throwing Axes, Shields
10 Thunderers - 140
10 Quallerers - 110
Cannon - 120
Engineer w/ Brace of Pistols, RoReloading
TOTAL - 999
Looks good, rangers must have great weapons mandatory however.
Besides, I'd drop the rangers, they do not work well, especially in lower point games. A low movement ranked scout unit? You will go 0.75" through forests.
Use those 110 pts to boost your other units.
Cannon needs rune of forging instead of the rune of reloading. Rune of forging is endlessly better.
Also your warriors & longbeard units are far better off with shields. Your thunderers & quarrelers also need shields. Shields for everyone! 3+ save is better than 5+. Now your soldiers die quikly, before they can strike back.
I propose this list:
Thane - 74
20 warriors - 205
shields, full command
20 longbeards - 315
shields, full command, rune of battle, rune of stoicism
10 Thunderers - 150
10 Quallerers - 120
Cannon - 125
Rune of forging
TOTAL - 989
10 points left, 2 combat units that are far more capable.
Thanks for the feedback. I can't seem to think of something that costs 11 points lol. I did have another question, and by all means correct me if I am wrong because this is how we have been playing since my friend told me otherwise. How is the armor save 3+? He told me with heavy armor and shield it is a 4+... maybe that's why my little dwarfies were dropping like flies...
Heavy armour = 5+
Heavy armour & Shields = 4+
Heavy armour, Handweapon & shields when fighting in combat = 3+
If you have hand weapons and shields than you get a so-called 'parry bonus', which adds 1 to your armoursave. 5+ becomes 4+, and 4+ becomes 3+ etc.
But don't believe me, believe the rulebook: Page 56, under handweapons 'fighting with handweapon and shields'.
That should make a difference
But beware, against magic and missile fire they don't get this parry bonus, only in close combat.
We don't have a rulebook, we've been trying to remember the rules great to know though thanks!
No, I went to buy a runelord. We usually play at his house or mine.
