Ib are the obvious bunker for my bsb and or lord., the runes i use are designed to control the magic fase and dampen the shooting fase. My 4 blocks of warriors should be enough to hold/win various scenarios like pitched battle, or controlling objectives.
Feel free to comment.
Analternative is to reduce the quarrels to 20 and take an organ gun. Autohits are great, but the range is somewhat limited
I like the look of that list its solid, your units should hold their own in a fight and the cannons/grudge throwers and Id take the organ gun, people fear this weapon, plus the 20 quarrelers will make mince meat of your emeny before they get there
The runesmiths will stop most magic
If I was doing the list Id have a unit of slayers in there but thats coz Im mental lol but it would look something similar to this
I do like slayers also. And as far as I know, for most tournaments I will have 250 points on top of the 2K now. Most likely this list will be amended with 1 slayer unit or slayer hero, for warmachine protection. A thane with a master rune of challenge, to force my opponent into a direction my my choosing.
The idea with the quarrelers and the organ gun. I have to think about my deployment. 20 quarrelers might be too low in numbers to be an effective combat unit when my opponent crosses the table. it is only 6+ AS and many will die before I have a chance at hitting back.
In the 2250 point list, the 20 version works better, since I can force a charge redirect with my challenging thane, thus protecting my quarrelers.
If you have FC on the quarrelers then set them up in 10 x 2 formation for 20 shots a turn, as soon as the enemy get to close use the musician to change to a 5 x 4 formation, that way you get maximum shots and a solid fighting unit if needed
Its worth noting that Ro Stone dosent stack. you only get the effects once. It is an exception to the rule in that you could have 2 characters in the army, both with just Ro Stone as an Armour Rune, so it is a duplicate in that way. When i started out (years ago), i used to use multiple Ro Stone thinking they could stack for a total of +3 to your armour but unfortunatly they dont.
Otherwise its not a bad list. Very similar to my anvil list at higher points. I would opt for Hammerers over IB every day of the week being cheaper and having stuborn. Its better than a little extra armour to have +2 Strength and Stuborn.
Drop Ro Spellbreaking on your Rune Lord and try to get a ward save. By dropping that and the useless Ro Stone on him you can afford 2x Ro Iron for a 5+ ward.
Ah, thanx. I will correct this. The 5+ WS gave for the RL is a good idea. I hate to put my friends back into the tunnel, but you are right. Hammerers are better pointwise. if I swap out the IB's in favor of the hammers. I have 25 points + the 5 from the RoS = the 2x RoI for my Lord. No need to give up a part of my fancy magic defence.
I will edit my list on top.
