    [2000] Slayer Army --> Radical!

My latest tournaments say me snatching podiums regularly but one thing remained: people just hated the army, regardless to how many doom seekers I used (5 to 3 in the end) and caracters (3 in general, really simple and cheap).

This as hindered my chances at best overall, as people tend to automatically judge the army cheesy regardless of what I do, so I am trying this radical list, trying to go for flavour

    Lords & Heroes

    Deamon Slayer 275 pts
    Beast Slayer, Vampire Slayer
    MRoSwitness, 2 RoFury

    Dragon Slayer 219 pts
    Skaven Slayer, Great Weapon

    18 Troll Slayers 225 pts
    Standard, Giant Slayer

    Any Thoughts?

Hmm... Rank and file Dwarves... Lots of'em. I'd still use some protective Wards and stuff (like the magical standard) just to keep the stunties alive 'til melee.

    Kudos on not using Doomseekers
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
    Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
    Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD

To be honest Wolf_Pack, this list lacks, well, everything. It's got nothing like your usual inspiring unit choices and synergy relationships. I think you'll always come across people who will criticise slayers, simply because they cannot beat them. However, you should not have to go to such lengths as this to prove a point. That's like saying take away an elf's mage's and repeaters, or removing chosen chaos knights. Therefore i'd stick to the lists you create and play well, ones with diversity amongst choice, size and weapon selection. Just my oppinion,

Umm, very true, it's just that it keeps me from scoring great points in my strong devissions, like honour, sportsmanship and composition.

Guess I'd have to shoot only for best general then.

Maybe simply drop the hewer, (130 pts for the warmachine AND Malakai is a bit over power I recon) and simply keep 3 doom seekers?

    Such As This :

    Lords & Heroes

    Deamon Slayer 275 pts
    Beast Slayer, Vampire Slayer
    MRoSwitness, 2 RoFury

    Dragon Slayer 129 pts
    Skaven Slayer, Great Weapon

    17 Troll Slayers 214 pts

Well to be honest that would be an alright substitution. Malakai is seen to be a powerful unit, but the same can be said for the doomseekers as well. I suppose by dropping one though you can argue the point you have lowerd your overall effectiveness. If you choose to stick to this path, it might be an idea to split one of the larger units in two to allow for some sort of protection on the flanks and of course for flank charges as well. To that end, some differant weapon variations would be nice to see as well.

Overall though, this list isn't exactly tournament worthy, as it isn't likely to win as many matches as a normal slayer list. I understand the fact sportsmanship is a big factor in tournaments, however, a list should not impact on this. If my opponent generally plays fair and I have a good time playing him (no matter the result), he'll get my vote for sportsmanship. I'm still not liking the fact you are restrictin yourself because other people think you should. Your list is perfectly legal, you haven't even maxed out on unit types, I mean slayers don't have a wide range, and they are very slow and vulnerable to damage. They aren't that difficult to beat for a skilled general. Anyway, best changes for the list, a few smaller units, and weapon variety.

Yeah I forgot to arrange the weapon slections there Taint, thanks for a reminder.

I think you'll like the changes:

Gave the dragon slayer a fluffier approche ( can't kill skaven if they hit first)

    Lords & Heroes

    Deamon Slayer 275 pts
    Beast Slayer, Vampire Slayer
    MRoSwitness, 2 RoFury

    Dragon Slayer 155 pts
    Skaven Slayer, RoCleaving, 2x RoSpeed

    Core

    15 Troll Slayers 192 pts
    Extra Hand Weapon
    Giant Slayer, Standard

    15 Troll Slayers 192 pts
    Extra Hand Weapon
    Giant Slayer, Standard

    14 Troll Slayers 181 pts
    Giant Slayer, Standard

    14 Troll Slayers 181 pts
    Giant Slayer, Standard

    3 Doomseekers 195 pts

    Special

10 Brothers Of Grimnir 181 pts
    Great Weapons
    Giant Slayer

12 Brothers Of Grimnir 181 pts
    Great weapons
    Giant Slayer

    16 Slayer Pirates 279 pts
    Full Command

    Total 2000
    Models 103
    DD 4+5 Wards

I could also scrap allt he giant slayer and easely add another unit of 10-12 troll slayers for bait?

Well, your last list is looking more promising, it has more potential to do damage on the table now. I suppose you could drop the giant slayers in favour of another small unit, but the current amount of infantry blocks should do fine. It's also good to see you added some brothers of grimnir, these guys are a good addition to the force and make up for that little bit of diversity it was lacking. I suppose the only way to tell now how well the list will perform is to play some games with it against some differant opponents. You might find some more smaller compact units are needed, or that the blocks need enlargening. Good luck with it and do update on how it turns out,

    Sure will there Taint.

I added the brotherhood for 2 things:

the first be I don't have that many Doomseekers to get those wards, so the brotherhood would do the trick.

The second, a hard hitting unit with S6, does better Vs armour than 2 hand weapons this as been a problem for me in the past.
