    500pt Dwarf Warband-Tournament

    O.K. with the new release dwarfs I have decided to delve into beards&blackpowder for the next tourny with my club. Its looking to be a warband escalation league and this was my idea for 500pts.
    Dwarf Warriors (12)
    +Shields
    +Standard
    +Veteran
    = 123pts

    Dwarf Warriors (12)
    +Shields
    +Standard
    +Veteran
    = 123pts

    Thunderers (10)
    +Standard=150pts

    Cannon
    +Engineer
    =105pts

    =>501pts

    It seems balanced to me but then again I have not had a chance to play as dwarfs yet.I would either use engineer or one of the vetrens as general. Any advice, critisism, etc... much obliged.

    looks pretty good, but in the new rules, thunderers lost their move and shoot rule, making them much less useful. i would definatly get quarelers, as the extra range and lower point cost will be more useful at low points where not much has much armour.

    Hmm... I'm not a big fan of crossbows myself (appearance, not rules) and the plus 1 to hit and armour piercing will be quite handy against some of the units my friends field ('ard boys, silver helms, chaos warriors) , but I will take it into consideration as the lower points cost is pretty signficant at 500 points. I was thinking I might drop the cannon and get some slayers. Good idea?

    considering what you said about how your friends play with heavy armoured units, and therefore that they wont have many of them, slayers might be a good idea, because you could hold up one unit with them while you gang up on another with both warrior units.

    However, you wouldnt have as much shooting power, and cannons go through armour well also, so it really might help you as well. I think it pretty much depends on whether your oppenents usually take 2 heavy units or not, because when i play 500 points with my lizardmen or ogres (my non-dwarf armys), i only really take one heavy combat unit.

    One last idea for you to think about, would be to get quarrlers instead of thunderers and drop their standard (not too useful in my opinion on a shooting unit), saving you some points. Then you could get a bolt thrower so that you still have some artillary, and a small unit of slayers. You might need to decrease the number of the quarrlers as well.

    btw, i just noticed, thats the new batallion box isnt it? nice that it comes out to 500 points. lol

    EDIT: just checked, and with rough calculations, i think you could get a BT, 8 quarrlers, and 10 slayers as well as your other stuff, or 10 quarrlers, 8 slayers.

    Thank you for some solid ideas there. But i've already assembled and painted the thunderers. Taking your Ideas into consideration I have came up with this:
    Dwarf Warriors (12)
    +Shields
    +Standard
    = 113pts

    Dwarf Warriors (12)
    +Shields
    +Veteran
    = 113pts

    Thunderers (10)
    =140pts

    Bolt Thrower
    =45pts

    Slayers(8 )
    =88pts

    =>499pts
    Overall I don't feel it has lost much to the previous list and I managed to fit in the slayers so I'm pretty happy with it. I'm going to have to figure out something for the bolt thrower as I don't think it will be released in time. What do you think of the new list though?

    it looks good . You could use an old bolt thrower and convert it to look newish (because it wouldnt look good with the rest of the army otherwise). good luck with the army
