Hi all. My friend is starting WHFB, and has chosen Dwarfs. He has both the new battalion and army book, but has never played before, only 40k. The list has been made simply out of all the models in the Battalion, plus a Thane. The list isn't competitive, just for learning the rules and stuff.
Please give your advice and comments.
- Hand Weapon; Gromril Armour; Shield; Rune of Fury; Rune of Stone
12 Dwarf Warriors (133pts)
- Hand Weapons; Heavy Armour; Musician; Standard Bearer; Champion; Shields
12 Dwarf Warriors (145pts)
- Hand Weapons; Heavy Armour; Great Weapons; Musician; Standard Bearer; Champion
16 Dwarf Thunderers (249pts)
- Hand Weapons; Dwarf Handguns; Light Armour; Musician; Standard Bearer; Champion
Organ Gun (125pts)
- 3 crew with hand weapons and light armour
a very good base to start from i must say. all of the unit sizes are about right for this level of play and he has chosen the better of the two warmachines you can get in the starting set. very nice work all round. :yes:
spambot kill tally: 79
[16:19] <@Alzer> Arky's right though
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> I know he is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> He usually is.
[16:20] <@Kaiser-> Sometimes it's intentional.
[00:01] <+zubus> i love you, ya skirt wearin nothern monkey! ^_^
Thanks - I'll pass that on. :w00t:
Pretty solid list, good start.
Soon though you should get some elite (implying Ironbreakers for me).
And some rare war machines (especially goblin hewer, in my opinion best artillery in the game)
Your friend will soon know what he wants.
Looks pretty good. But wouldnt it be better to drop the thunders down to 10 and get some more warriors? Even though hes got good firepower, 2 units of 12 wont last long...
That's a good point, which will be acted upon when he has some more models, and therefore can configure unit sizes and what have you.. But for now he is using the models he has.
Thanks for the comments though guys!
Hopefully the army will win.Originally Posted by Pierced53

But I still think that your friend should get some ironbreakers. :yes:
With only a 750 points army you should try and consider if a unit of IB are worth it. Even for a decent unit, it will cost you 250 points. He will be able to have some good CC units but. At the cost of at least the organ gun or the Thunders.
He will be able to have the IB unit, hes two small warrior units, a thane and 10 thunders....with this army it will be, IMO, a very troublesome battle, as the warriors wont be able to stand for very long time nor the thunders. And even though IBs are great, its not cool to be charged from the front, the flank and the rear. Even with the oath stone.
w00t! Post number 100 xD
Many Many people underestimate the power of troops in WHFB.
"Rank em up" That's my motto, you need a character or two to stop the behemoths that most people field in their armies, but the real wars are won by foot troops. Carry on buying those warrior box sets. The more thunderers and warriors you have the better. For every two you want some longbeards to protect against panic.
Man dwarfs rock!
Good idea, I can't resist Ironbreakers, over normal warriors.Originally Posted by King Alriks Bodyguard
