ok this is a result of my quest to bear really hefty characters in an army and have them stand up to the fluff and cause some carnage. it seems to have got out of hand however and resulted in my spending of close to 1000 points on my characters, yet somehow i still like the look of the army. i have a solid battle line of troops and several potent warmachines in support including a pair of flamecannons (crossfireing tactics employed with them) and a Bs5 S7 bolt thrower.

Is the grudge thrower a fluff thing too? I just think the cannon or orgun gun are a little more effective and maybe a bit cheaper for the cannon. (I would put the m.engineer on the cannon so it is D6 and doesn't misfire) You don't have to cut down the characters, but maybe squeeze some points for more troops. I would drop one of the specials to core, probably warriors - they don't have to kill anything with the big nasty characters in them, just provide some ranks and combat res. Dwarves can get real small and since they don't move well, the big, bad guys can be avoided and take out the rest of your army.
This is a very nice list. I would have to agree with buckero0 on the Grudge Thrower in favour of cannon idea and definitely on increasing the size of your units. After I tried putting 29 + Hero/Lord Longbeards or Ironbreakers with some serious runic standard (Battle and Stoicism) I just keep playing with larger units. Keep my warriors in 25s and sometimes do 28 + Lord + BSB in one unit. Works out for me. I also never use the spellbreaking rune. You have 4 default dispel dice + 3 from Anvil + 1 from Runesmith. Why would you spend another 25 points? And if you really wanted to make sure they are spent on antimagic, try getting Master Rune of Balance. I just like to gamble with facing magic, I guess...

Well, I like the list, very CC oriented, with a MR of Challenge to ensure some CC kicks! You've also included my favorite BSB!!
- you might stick the MR of challenge on the runesmith, allowing you to put a ward save on your lord. Then you move the runesmith wherever to provoke charges, including in the hammerer unit. Remember, just because he uses the rune doesn't mean he needs to challenge anything. I'd give the runesmith a shield also, I like having the choice.
- while you have both hammerers w/lord and the anvil, you may still be a little weak against fear/terror. Some banner runes of battle or courage could go a long way towards preventing autobreak by outnumbering skellies, for instance.
- another uber-character you might like: BSB with fearcausing and double unit-size runes. maybe also a rune of battle. This means you could autobreak foes due to fear in a static CR unit, which would be amusing!
