Pleast don't post points/model, this violates GW copyright and LO policy. Thanks
Ok, this list is basically going to be something which I can use as a base and then modify as I make it larger.
Thane, Master Rune of Gromril, Great Weapon. 94 Points
20 Warriors, Shields, Musician & Standard 195 Points
19 Warriors, Shields, Standard and Musician 186 Points
12 Thunderers, Shields, Musician 185 Points
14 Thunderers , Shields, Musician 215 Points
Organ Gun Points
- Is 26 thunderers too much?
- As a shooting focused list, is one hero enough, or would a dragon slayer be a good investment?

oddly enough this is a fairly balanced list in my opinion. a 2:3 combat to shooting ratio is perfectly acceptable. what i will suggest however is that you boost the 16 strong warrior unit to 19 then attach the thane. remember that under the new rules you need to have a 5 wide frontage. so 2 decent sized combat units are perfect.
to free up the points for this i reccomend dropping 2 thunderers and going with the organ gun. you might end up a little short ranged against some foes but it will be rare.
what i will add however is that at 1000 points miners might have a hard time finding targets. it might be worth scrapping these guys and giving your thane some better equipment and giving your thunderers muscians. i would also suggest that you remove the great weapons from your 16 strong warriors and equip them with sheilds. i also propose giving your thunderers sheilds so they can double up as a flanking unit for combat.

Made a few changes.
- Dropped miners
- Beefed up Thane
- Added more warriors and gave shields and muso's to thunderers
My personal preference for Thanes is to make them hit first rather than hard. Your thane has the armor to survive a beating...untill something really strong hits him (I've been playing against Ogers and seen my thanes armor save reduced to a 5+) and starts knocking down his armor. Worse yet for dwarf HQ's is that your never going to get the charge so your HQ as is is always going to swing last which is going to hurt your troops.
My personal experience is to use my thane to hit the enemy first and knock down some of them before they can start swinging at my warriors. I think in a shooty army where your warriors are going to be used defensively a Thane w/Shield, Master Rune of Swiftness, and a couple runes of stone would serve your play style better. This set up lets your thane hit first even against chargers, gives a good armor save, is fairly cheap, and can have a decent showing in challenges.
Drop a couple thunderers and beef that Thane up so he can contribute...heros do far more than their share of killing in each game and you can't go wrong investing some points in him, as long as your don't go completely overboard.
(Of course my preferences are a tad skewed by the fact that so far my biggest opponent is Oger Kingdoms and I don't play a shooting heavy list. Even fairly plain Brutes in CC are a nightmare and my own Thane (Shield, Master Rune of Swiftness, Rune of Cleaving, 2 Rune of Stone) has yet to take one down...due partially to my bad rolling but also to the fact that St 8 weapons leave my Gromril clad Thane with a +5 or +6 up armor save.)
The only honorable options left to we combatants is seppuku or semantics...which amount to the same thing really.
Thanks for the response, but you cant take two runes of stone.......
You could combat this problem with some quarrellers, or some longer ranged war machines.
