    1st Dwarf list 2250 points

    Hello all! I am new to the Dwarf Army and I'm Looking to start my own!I would like you to read over this list and please help me improve it

    Here's a quick list of notes:

    Dwarf Lord
    ----------------
    Fav lord, but here's an idea. With shieldbearers and gromril alone, he's at a 2+ save. Throw in a rune of stone, 1+. Since you are using a non-GW runic weapon, you should combo it with a shield, totalling to a 0+ save before including the parry bonus in CC. As such, I'd advise switching the master rune of gromril with a rune of stone and slapping on a shield. Other than that, a classic lord with a classic weapon. That'll save on points, perhaps even opening up the option of another cheap armor rune, or even a talisman rune.

    Thane w/ BS
    --------------------------
    Very expensive banner that only helps the unit he's in. Consider having whatever unit this massive point-hit take it's own runic banner. I'd lose the fear rune as I'm rarely charging with dwarves, and Fear loses half it's fun in that scenario. Consider instead getting the banner that adds +1CR to everyone within 12" to keep your tight network of dwarves steady.

    Considering the massive point nature of this game, you may want to redirect 25 points to this dwarf to get a Master Rune of Balance instead, or 50 points to get both.

    No comment. Sexy as always, as I imagine the lord is sitting in here.

    Hoo-boy, I hate having these guys sitting around without a banner with the rune of courage. If you go with my thane idea, then transfer that rune over to this unit.

    Warriors and Thunderers
    --------------------------
    10 is WAY too small. Wow, like terra-bad small. Switch a thunderer unit into a quarrellers unit, or scrap the miners, or SOMETHING to fix this tiny unit.

    Miners
    --------------------------
    So expensive, and so very hit-or-miss. I imagine you fight alot of sit-back-and-shoot armies? If you're intent on keeping 'em, at least whittle them down to 10 or something. They're the suprise attack, and don't need alot of numbers to stay alive. The warriors, on the other hand... Personally, I'd trade all these guys in for artillery that does something EVERY turn.

    The rare white elk of dwarf armies, it seems. Good luck on using it, although I'd prefer a flame cannon or organ gun to it. Then again, I have only the stats, and it's probably quite sexy in practice.

    A slightly Tweeked list, Taking the advice that Babel_Matrix gave, Does this look more playable?

    *Lord goes with hammers, Thane with Longbeards, Engi with Cannon
    ** I play a HE cav. Force, A Dark elf balanced force, a Chaos Melee force (mostly Khorne), And a few others, but they change every week or so!

    Looks, to quote babel, sexy. My only advice is to return the steam drill to the propector. Miners are hit or miss but the steam drill goes a long way toward fixing that.

    @ Babel_matrix
    I believe you are suggesting that a dwarf can get a -1 armor save. Most clubs don't allow this for two reasons.

    1. If you have a magic weapon, I don't believe you benefit from the parry rule.
    2. Neither Rune of Stone or Shieldbearers can be used to drop the Lord into the negative armor saves, regardless of rules-lawyering on the 'before applying this armor save' clause. Sloppily worded by GW, but most clubs won't allow that interpretation. If your friends will, great for you.

    @ Radeonis:

    Army posting tips:
    -only include upgrades, not standard equipment. For instance, we know thunderers get handguns. It saves space, making your list easier to read and evaluate.
    -post total numbers for the unit (20 dwarves) rather than 19 dwarves plus 1 veteran. Otherwise people (like me) get confused how many models are in your unit.
    -I prefer to write S/M/C, or full command, than to write out standard, musician, and champion.

    Army Tips:
    The bolt thrower wants an engineer, and no rune of reloading.

    Your miners don't need a standard. Such a small unit will lose static CR against a serious melee threat, and hand the banner to the foe for VP.

    I like my missle units with shields. Makes them much more resiliant against small units (fast-cav, skirmishers, infantry flyers) and forces your foe to send real force against them if he wants to kill them in melee.

    If you have shieldbearers, your lord displaces 2 dwarves, so you only need 18 dwarves, not 18+unit champion=19 (if I understand your style correctly), to have full rank bonus.

    Nope, no save greater than a 1+ is possible with dwarves. You can read the rules anyway you want but the rules specifically state that any combo including shield bearers can only be increased to a maximum of 1+ (page 29) just because you can rearrange the order of items doesn't mean that the overall effect is not the same.

    A + B + C = ABC regardless on how you order it all that manling bracketing nonsense doesn't come into it.
