ok i was having a glance at the armor runes and wondered dont they over wright a normal items propertys?
so gomrill armor with arune of stone will only give me a 6+
am i wrong?

Yes your wrong, they don't cancel out the original save aforded by the armour. So by adding a RoStone to the Gromril Armour will give you a 3+ save, it's because armour doesn't really have any special abilities. No matter what happened to it it's still there as a protection, it's not as if adding a rune weakens it. The opposite in fact, adding a rune strengthens the armour.
The weapons are the only ones that are changed due to the addition if runes, thats becasue they are made magical. Magic items are generally something easy to use and swing, so going last dragging the huge magic axe isn't really much of a bonus is it?
