    Great Dwarf warriors

    as of late I hath begun to wonder what the Venerable Lords of the Dwarven holds think that the best possible dwarf lord set up is (runes, weapons etc.)

    My favourites

    DragonSlayer
    w. MR Swiftness & RO Fury x2

    Lord
    w. MR Kragg the Grimm & Rune of Cleaving x2 - WS7 S8 A4 !!!
    w. MR Gromil or Rune of Stone w. Shieldbearers AS1+
    w. Rune of Warding MR1 for character and unit

    Add in runes giving immunity to killing blows etc and he's pretty damn good.

    GW, RoStone, RoSpite and Challenge rune on shieldbearers. What I field 99% of the times when bringing a lord. He simply does not die and can bite back as well.

    I like Shield bearers, Great weapon w/ Kragg rune, Rune that always swings first (dont recall its name) and rune of cleaving. also a Crossbow and pistol for awesome factor and that rune that is 2+ against shooting haha just plain awesome

    i throw this guy in with my Ironbreakers.
    Lord:
    Great weapon, Shield bearers
    Runic Armor: Rune of Preservation, Rune of Resistance, Rune of stone
    Runic Talismon: Spite , RUne of warding x2

    Grants him rerollable 1+ as, 4+ ward and 2x MR. damn pain in the ass to kill!

    Unfortunately, the Master Rune of Kragg the Grim and the Master Rune of Swiftness (ASF) cannot be placed on the same weapon.

    If they could, everone would be using that combo.

    My particular Dwarf Lord has a shield and Shieldbearers and:

    Runic Great Weapon w/ Master Rune of Kragg the Grim, Rune of Might, and Rune of Snorri Spangelheim

    Runic Armor w/ Rune of Stone

    Runic Talisman w/ Master Rune of Spite

    He hits on 2/3+ with 4 attacks that wounds almost everything on 2+, has a 0/1+ AS and 4+ WS.

    Very nasty indeed, but also a hefty 299 points.

    I put him in a 20 strong unit of Hammerers w/ Rune of Sanctuary.

    Lord, Great Weapon and Shield with Bearers.
    R.Stone, M.R. Kragg, R.Fury, R.Snorri Spangelheim

    She's nearly always in a unit with magic resistance, her armor is nigh un-crackable. The armor is cheap and she doesn't have a Ward save so she's actually pretty points-efficient too. Whatever she hits, dies.

    ...and yes, I said "she". A Dwarf female is easily a match for any male of a less hardy species.

    You can save points by not giving him the rune, the shieldbearers automatically make him immune to killing blow - as they make him US3. Killing blow can only be used against US1 models. Poison is rarely something to worry about.

    I used to equip my lord with the shieldbearers, rune of stone, MR of Spite, MR of Kragg, cleaving and snorri combo, and was really effective with it.

    Actually these days i cheat and put the same model on the table and equip him only with the shieldbearers, rune of stone and GW. All the points saved go towards the thanes in the other units, as my opponents run away from the hammerer unit like the plague. They dont seem to get the joke, ah well

    A simple way to make sure your lord and his hammerers get charged is to replace the MR of Spite with a couple runes of iron and the MR of challenge. roughly the same points, but at least now you are sure to kill something

    actually if facing a horde of weak creatures, another combo that works pretty well is three runes of fury. when you pick up 9 dice, mostly hitting on 3's and wounding on 3's, people tend to notice lol, great for psychological warfare.
