im have the dwarf book and amn thinking about playing it, but dwarfs have a low initive already would it matter to give them great wep. or is the hand wep. and sheild better?
That depends. The HW/S makes your stunties a better tarpit, useful for holding quite powerful enemies in place for a loong time. With GW, they sacrifice a little bit of resilience for CC hitting power. But, you're right - the Always Strikes Last rule doesn't hurt us too much. In CC, even my Tomb Kings skellies get to hit before my Dwarfs.
Thanks for the advice
If you play anvil, I'd suggest a unit of 10 warriors with GWs as a flanking unit. I've played against dwarfs that use that tactic and those little units are so annoying, because if you divert fire to them, you're leaving their bigger blocks intact, but if you ignore them, the anvil will let those guys get 5 str5 attacks into your flank. At 100 points they're perfect.
