I play this friend who play Lizardmen
his basic army (depenting on point cap)
- Maybe a Slann
- 50-90 skinks (with scout)
- 2-4 units of 4-5 kroxgors
- Maybe a Stegadon
- Maybe templeguards to protect the Slann
His tactic is quite simple:
Use the skinks as Krox shield and the annoying poison(blowpipe) ability
Hide the Kroxigors behind the skinks and charge trough them when time is right
This tactic is very annoying, the stinks itn't that dangerous with good armour save, but they block my line of sight, meaning I only can use my lovely war machines on Skinks! The logical joy is ofcause when I got a hill, but that doesn't happen that offen.
Any tactics, army lists, anything are wellcome...

Those skinks are no real problem. Handy is using the masterrune of challenge so they will either charge you and get smashed to bits or flee ( more likely ) . Skinks also cause kroxigor panictests, don't they? Templates are great and with all of those skinks you will certainly hit something, perhaps the kroxigors behind them, or just a truckload of skinks. Thanes with great weapons and masterrune of swiftness can also take care of a krox and your 20 strong blocks grant 5 combatres at the beginning ( banner, 3 ranks, outnumber ) . I destroyed a unit of 5 krox a few weeks back with warriors with runesmith. Obviously lucky, but the combatres took care of them and they fled.
Perhaps you could try some miners to get to the Slann?
Im really new to dwarfs and warhammer in general, but I think a good strategy would be the organ gun to deal with the skinks because it can fire so much.

Although fairly fresh to Warhammer I have played more lizardmen then any other army.
I agree the organgun is excellent, almost a must have. If he camoskins skinks on your flank, move your blocks and blast them with the gun. He places a lake near you to hide skinks, organ gun them, great!
If he's packing a slann, you're going to need anti-magic up the hee-hay. My opponent takes a 2nd generation slann and goes nuts with lore of metal, it's nasty. You definitely want a smith or two, rune of balance is a must, I would consider a few dispel runes, maybe the nasty +2 dispel banner, although that is pricey.
I find +combatresolution banners to work wonders against the basic warriors, and even the kroxigors, my biggest problem is getting flank charged by the things, which seems to happen a lot =(
Ironbreakers can hold up nicely against a frontal kroxigor charge, and with plus combat res they usually win the combat (at least in my experience).
A cannon is a nice addition, place it as close to the table edge as you can and get some flank shots on the krogixors, or pop the Stegadon. I've always been able to pop the big dinosaur with the cannon before it hits my lines.
I assume most of this is obvious, but thought I would toss in my 2 cents
He also casts at +1 and usually with an extra power die, and don't forget the diadem. Rather than trying to amtch the slann in antimag, just take a few scrolls to prevent the nasty spells and accept that he has a 500pt shooty unit.Slann is a level 4 wizard, right?
I've had a bit of experience on this match up/list, and so can offer advice:
Gyros are godly; skinks die in droves to it and you get to marchblock quite a bit.
OG is really the only warmachine that's good v skink/kroxigor, so take it.
Your shooting will not be so hot against skirms and the recieving end of the slann's nukes, so don't overdo it.
Take a lot of meele blocks. A lot.
Beware the Jaguasaur on your war machines/shooting.
The Stegie is the real wildcard; he can easily cost you the game if he flanks, so don't let him.
Basicly, force him to charge the kroxies/steg into a meele block frontally. Even if you break, they're not lined up to charge another flank after that.
Characters with great weapons and a good save solves a lot of issues.
Organ gun is good for shooting skinks in cover, since it doesn't roll to hit
An organgun is good shooting everything :p What's the Toughness of Kroxigors, 4 I think. That's dead easy to blow away.
Try to blow away all the skinks in front of the kroxigors and clear the view for your other missile instruments of doom. If the skinks panic, all the better.
Loads of CC units. 2 warriorunits of 20 ( 205 pts with full command and shields ) and units of longbeards. A unit of slayers, hammerers or ironbreakers for some extreme slaughter. You could use the slayers for the job they should do fluff wise anyway, but all those skinks and the lack of armour mean they die very quik.
What about a master rune of challenge? Either the skinks come to you, or they flee back through the kroxigors.
Also think about a unit of 5 or 10 miners ( nice and cheap ) to get to the Slann and perhaps ruin his magic fase for a turn.
Not gonna happen. Slanns can cast in CC if in a inf block, and solo they are even more safe while being far more mobile than any dorf unit. Also think about a unit of 5 or 10 miners ( nice and cheap ) to get to the Slann and perhaps ruin his magic fase for a turn.
