theres a tournament in my area coming up in november and ive decided on taking dwarves. now, there are a couple things id like to get everyones opnions on.
-firstly oathstones. they seem really good for a character thats always gunna be challenging, but after that combat...? how have you guys found it, or is it even worth thinking about?
-secondly the lord choice. i like the idea of an anvil runelord completely shutting down the enemy's magic phase. even better is thorek and his chum. but the 40k player in me is saying its way to many points in 1 model. arouns 470-500. a lord on shieldbearers seems like a nice option but yeh, what do you think?
-and finally, characters in general. is a balance of the 4 good? like a lord, thane BSB, runesmith and an engineer? whats everyones favourite combination?
pre emptive cheers for any help thrown in here
When in doubt, more Bloodcrushers
Number 1 rule: DWARFS DO NOT NEED 4 CHARACTERS.
Usually at 2000 Lord on Shieldbearers (make him hard to kill and MRoChallenge), BSB Thane with banner of choice, and a Runesmith.
If you REALLY want then you might invest in a naked Master Engineer (maybe a Rune of Luck).
Not a big fan of anvils.
And, as I'm answering these backwards, you have to be VERY careful where you have to set the stone, as it can easily take one of you own expensive rank and file units out of the game.
Current painting project: 2300 pts of Dwarfs in 5 weeks.
