Hi i played a game last night with dwarfs and i used a battelstandart whit banner of valaya ( 2+ dispell ) and a runlord whit the item thet gives 1+ dispell ( dont remamber name ) and then i played like i got +3 total in dispell and now im wondering if this whas corect?
Absolutely correct. Its only right that we have the items to shut down magic like this.
I dont know who you were playing but wait until you run into a VC player using this combo.
Current painting project: 2300 pts of Dwarfs in 5 weeks.
i did face VC and i did wery well , i have never tryed this combo but it workt wery well. its not the last time i used this combo.
for me runlord i hade a anvil of doom, do u think the anvil is worth it ?
Its the prevelence of VC and the trouble they give dwarves that I took this combo myself
May the Emperor forgive you, for his servants cannot.
why take the MR of spellbinding (giving you +1 to dispel) when you can take the MR of balance, which gives you +1d6 and takes a power dice from your opponent. They are both the same price...
If I buy only one of those runes, I'd take the MroBalance over spellbinding anyday, but when you can combine it with the MroValaya, giving a total of 3+, I'd take it. and the +1 to dispell is handy when you play against an opponent who you know has lots of boundspells. Like an empire army wih 2 or 3 warriorpriests.
On the Subject of Dispell, in a 2250pts list I was writing up I thought about a Runelord with anvil and MroBalance, in the end giving 8 Dispell dice (2+2+2+1+1). Just wanted to ask is this to much do I that much ? is it worth it ? Should i include MroValaya aswell ?
No it isn't. A chaos player here has 8 powerdice in 1500 pts already. Let alone armies like vampire counts or ever fought a beastmen army with marks of Tzeentch on half a dozen units, those add powerdice. He had 11 I think. Was pretty scary untill I blew half his units away at the start and paniced one of his wizards so he couldn't cast.
The problem is that a totally magic generating army is always going to blow you away. Ive seen 2k chaos army lists with 15-20+ power dice, and theres no way you can ever compete with that, unless you are taking runelord/anvil and 3 more fully kitted out runesmiths + battle standard with valaya. If you do that you are then seriously depleting your melee and shooting for points spent on defence. If you are in a tournament where there are only a few magic armies then the close combat ones are going to tear you to pieces.
The main thing is to have enough dispel to stop some/most of their magic (and totally shutting down some armies), but some is bound to get through. You just have to weather the storm and outshoot/fight them.
Huge magic generating armies dominate the magic phase but are lacking in shooting and melee. Get your stunties causing panic tests on their small sized units, get stuck into combat and dominate the other two damage phases of the game if you can.
