    An Age Old Question

Ok longbeards. I propose to you a question as old as our bearded friends themselves. Dwarfs or Dwarves? Personally I always leaned towards Dwarves but I'm not so sure anymore.

PS the spell check on the forums seems to think its Dwarfs

It was actually Tolkien who started using Dwarves and Elves as opposed to Dwarfs and Elfs, this is the same man who spelt connection as connexion. We can't give him that much of a hard time though, as he basically invented the High Fantasy genre.

It should be pointed out that "Dwarves" and "Elves" wasn't a mistake. It was a conscious decision he made to put his own signature on the races. He thought they sounded better and made more sense in the context of the world and the language.

Since I was a little kid I've used this spelling but I hadn't read any Tolkien until very recently....after the movies no less! ! #@X!
Might it have been from old D&D than?
That old guy influenced a heck of alot of western fiction...music too.
