Its Dwarfs No question about it. Though you can say something is dwarf-ish or dwarven
It was actually Tolkien who started using Dwarves and Elves as opposed to Dwarfs and Elfs, this is the same man who spelt connection as connexion. We can't give him that much of a hard time though, as he basically invented the High Fantasy genre.

It should be pointed out that "Dwarves" and "Elves" wasn't a mistake. It was a conscious decision he made to put his own signature on the races. He thought they sounded better and made more sense in the context of the world and the language.
