I've collected fantasy since 6th edition but never had the money or dedication to actually put a force together properly and really get into it (the fluff was what got me in mostly anyway). After a while though i finally got down to my local GW and set up my first ever game. I knew the rules because I read the rulebook frequently anyway and ended up playing a 500pt game against a TK player. He had a unit of about 16 skeleton archers, a unit of 3 chariots and a Liche Priest. I had 13 warriors with shields, 10 thunderers, a cannon and a Thane with a GW.
First few turns he simply cast a spell that allowed his archers to shoot in the magic phase as well which my warriors bore rather admirably. My thunderers shot down a chariot before being charged. They ended up fleeing and panicking the warriors (they both rallied immediately) next turn as the thunderers got charged again and hacked to pieces my cannon sniped the liche priest who failed his look out sir roll. One hilariously dead priest later his skeletons were crumbling and my thane was obliterating chariots.
So it was a great victory for the Dwarfs but it was actually very close, if he had've passed that roll next turn would have seen chariot resurrection and i probably would have lost the game as the cannon crew were slain before i could get my warriors into combat.
Hopefully you all enjoyed the tale of the first of my many victories as a bearded warrior
Good Game and good luck for the next games.
A beer to this beardling on my tab
sounds like a good game! this really shows how one dice can change a hole game I really hope you play more games soon!
