In my local game group we have a debate going on this subject. We wondered how the people are choosing and shooting with war machines, due to changes to True LoS in 8th eddition.
AS you know if we can see a target via ToS we can target it.
However for Cannon's we indicate a 2-10" point in the field before the target model, to make our shot hits the target. What happens if we do not directly see that point?
Such as. There is a Demon prince behind some 30 strong marauders.
We see the marauder unit clearly, but due to True LoS, we do not see the 3rd row and behind. Can we put the marker for Cannon shot, in the 4th row of the unit? to hit the demon prince?
Also lets say demon prince is far way that is there is 20" between marauders and demon prince. Cannon sees both units but can not directly see the point which we will put shooting marker. What do you do?
Also For GT again marauders are 30 strong however we do not see behind the 3 row which we want to put to get most models under template.
What is your take?
Btw, with the new shooting rules, Empire and dwarf teams are wreaking havoc on other armies, they say dwarfs became cheese , i didnt even thought that this day would come.
what about initial spot for a cannon to land, is between two units for the LoS?Yes, you need to see the position of the initial spot, where the cannonball is going to land. But remember, you just need to see the arm, of that model in the 3rd or 4th rank, in order to target that spot/model.
