Well, my friend is now not buying Dark elves he is buying lizard men. Any advice how to beat them would be greatly appreciated.

Im, Sorry, but i decided to change my army to Dwarfs.
Lizard men...Well I haven't them yet though I will soon with a friend so infrom you as soon as possible. For I start I think that lizard men aren't as open with different units as dwarfs are. First of all it will be tough because of their cold blooded ability and well when I play I usually go and try to get as many combat resolution dice as possible. Most of the army is mainly WS 4 S 4 and T 4, So they are pretty close to dwarfs with statistics and have a good leadership as well. Speed is one thing you have to keep an eye on because they move fast at times. Even though I like slayers I don't think they would be effective except for their attacks, but I wouldn't get them, not against lizard men. All your core units will be good against them though I suggest I wouldn't get minnors or rangers until you've played against lizard men and think you know how to use them against your enemy. For special units I would get Iorn Breakers, my favorites, longbeards and hammerers will also be good, but don't ask why but I dislike hammerers. Seige weapons will be fun and effective too. I'm guseing a gyrocopter would take care of those skinks. For your leader I would only make him a runelord or runesmith, if your army is not 2,000 yet, only if your opponent is going towards a magical army. I would get at least a bolt thrower with a rune of penetrating, if you want another one give it a rune of penetrating and a rune of fire because no two runic seige weapons can be the same with runes in them and its only 5 points more. From there you should find out what you want to do.

2 stone throwers with rune of penetrating & accuracy(the 2nd with a rune of fire to make it legal) will do wonders against his saurus blocks and any monsters he might be bringing. Then an organ gun vs the skinks. Also,remember that skinks can charge the gyrocopter and probably will win due to outnumbering,so it isnt all that great vs them. Other than that i'd take some hammerers and solid blocks of warriors backed up by 2 squads of thunderers. IMO the thunderers are much better than x-bowmen,since you get a bonus at short range AND armour peircing,meaning his saurus wont get saves. Arm the warriors with great weapons to deal with the saurus's armour,and DO NOT TAKE A RUNELORD. Runelords are horrible,a runesmith does the same job and if he takes an oldblood you need a dwarf lord. 2 Runesmiths w/ some runes of spellbreaking and rune of balance will make sure his magic phase is shut down,even with a slann.
