I was just thinking about the RoBattle (which I usually run on my longbeards) and was wondering that even though two on the same banner don't work (multiples have to effect) but if you were to take two units of longbeards for example that each had a runic standard with the RoBattle in the same combat would both count? Or if you included a BSB in the unit that also had this. I know that this probably isn't the most viable build I'm just wondering if it would work.
While we're on the topic what runic banners do you take? If your BSB has one what does he use?
They 'stack' so to speak. So with one on your BSB and one on his longbeard unit - you get +4 combat resolution from banners alone. Then get MRoStromni Redbeard and you have +5. With full ranks you have whopping static res of +8. Of course that's +3 combat resolution for 150 points in runes. Back in 7th edition - worth it. Now - not so much. You would sure surprise someone when you threw that at em.
I used to tool up my BSB and give runes to everyone who could take em but over time I've found that 5 more dwarfs is better than any 50 point banner - except Stromni which I still take today in any stationary list. That should be your barometer - is this worth x dwarfs? Would I rather take another bolt thrower or reduce their charge distance by d6? Are those 150 points above better than a tooled up grudge thrower? Answer is - probably not.
